Special performance by Magos Herrera from San Miguel de Allende
The Embassy is proud to present a performance by the renowned Mexican jazz singer Magos Herrera, especially produced to celebrate Mexico’s National Day with the public and the Mexican community in Singapore. Her performance is set in the magical town of San Miguel de Allende, México, a stone’s throw away from the town of Dolores Hidalgo, where the first “Grito de Dolores” was hailed by the priest Miguel Hidalgo, sparking the revolution for the independence of Mexico in 1810.
Born in Mexico City and currently based out of New York City, Magos Herrera is a dazzling jazz singer-songwriter, producer, and educator. Magos is regarded as one of the most expressive, beautiful voices and most active vocalists in the contemporary Latin American jazz scene. She embraces elements of contemporary jazz with Latin American melodies and sings in Spanish, English, and Portuguese (www.magosherrera.com).
Magos Herrera will perform interpretations of the following songs:
- “Luz de luna” (composed by Álvaro Carrillo Alarcón)
- "La Llorona” (Mexican traditional song)
- “Cucurrucucú paloma” (composed by Tomás Méndez)
