MEXICAN CUISINE DEMONSTRATION WITH SANTIAGO LASTRA

Mexican cuisine is back to Le Cordon Bleu with Santiago Lastra a young nomadic Mexican chef with a passion for combining his native customs with local ingredients.
For the past year Santiago has been travelling the globe, taking up guest chef invitations at high profile establishments including London’s Tate Modern and Carousel, Hija de Sanchez in Copenhagen, Meteri in Italy and Neolokal in Istanbul. He was also invited to return to his homeland to launch Noma Mexico in 2017 as project manager and Rene Redzepi’s right-hand man; sourcing exceptional ingredients from unassuming small-scale producers across the country.
You are invited to take part in this experience and plunge into the delicious and fascinating world of Mexican gastronomy, known for its unique ingredients combinations and its Pre-Hispanic heritage.

Call for entries - ECOFILM FESTIVAL 2018
The 8th International Festival of Environmental Short Films, ECOFILM FESTIVAL, invites the audio-visual producers of the world to participate in the competition presenting audio-visual works with a focus on sustainable development and nature conservation.

The aim of the festival is to promote environmental-themed cinematography that contributes to promote the sustainable use of natural resources as a source of development and well-being of the population.
The 2018 theme "Sustainable Mobility", seeks to promote the culture of an eco-friendly mobility and to foster social conditions for the coexistence and respect in a public space.
The participating short films can be registered until July 28, 2018, in 4 categories: animation, fiction, documentary and audio-visual campaign.
The jury, comprised of 9 renowned personalities from the film, advertising, communication and environmental industries, will be responsible to choose the works for the official 2018 festival.
The winners will be awarded with cash prizes for up to one million pesos, scholarships in animation studios at Vancouver Film School, among others.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the biggest arts and culture Festival on the ptlanet bringing music, theatre, dance and comedy shows every August for three weeks to the city of Edinburgh. Amongst the international acts, Mexico will be participating with:
Sofía & Marcelo are an innovative Mexican duo who combine different musical elements, rhythms and traditional Mexican instruments to achieve a unique sound. They have performed at Mexican festivals including Cumbre Tajín, Festival Cultural Zacatecas and recently in Panama.

This fresh piece from Mexican dance artists Romina Soriano and Luciana Turegano uses the elements that belong to the digital format, and highlights the power of rhythm, repetition, loopback and reverse action. GIF has been presented in several venues around Mexico and Central America and this run at the Edinburgh Fringe is its European premiere.

Café Tacvba in London!

Mexico’s leading alternative rock band, Café Tacvba, will be taking stage this summer at O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire – their first gig in London for nine years- Blending elements such as rock, folk, electronic and punk, the band’s innovative sound explores beyond the classic “rock en español” to create a unique experience. Their songs cross barriers with a musical language that is constantly evolving through experimentation and collaboration.
Starting out in the ‘80s as a garage band of graphic design students in the northern Mexico City suburb of Satélite, the band took the name Café Tacuba (changed later to Café Tacvba) in 1989. For over 25 years in the music industry, the band have won multiple Latin Grammys and a Grammy, and their album, Re, was named the ‘Number One Latin Rock Album of All Time’ by Rolling Stone in 2013.
