Mexican musicians Rodrigo and Gabriela in the UK
Rodrigo Sánchez and Gabriela Quintero are two Mexican musicians with a unique sound created on acoustic guitars. The fire in their music comes from their life-long passion for metal music. In 2006, “Rodrigo y Gabriela” were number one in the Irish charts. With their forth album, both the artists have gone on to enjoy international success since its initial release in early 2006.
Rodrigo and Gabriela define their style as ‘Fusion Music’ having its core in Latin harmonies and rhythms with a rock structure. Nowadays, Rodrigo and Gabriela are taking a break from writing their new single and will play at London’s iconic Palladium theatre for the first time, after more than two years since their last London gig in May 2014.

GABRIELA GARCÍA RIVERO IN “IN THE HEIGHTS”

'The Heights' is the vibrant Latino neighbourhood of Washington Heights in New York. Life has always been a struggle in this 'Barrio' but there's a change in the air as residents find themselves being priced out of their homes as a result of gentrification.
Gabriela García Rivero is starring at the musical “In The Heights” from 16th-23rd April, 2016 and is part of the Ensemble in other dates. Born and raised in Mexico, she moved to England at the age of 16 to start her studies as an actress. In 2012, she graduated with honours from a B.A. in Musical Theatre at the Arts Education School in London.
Her theatrical career includes: Hot Stuff (Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch); Ghost - the musical (UK Tour); Sweet Charity (English Theatre Frankfurt); Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens (the Space); Rent (Greenwich Theatre); A Night With Dirty Dancing (UK Tour) and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Swansea Grand Theatre)

POLA WEISS: PERFORMING WITH THE VIDEO
Chalton Gallery is absolutely delighted to present the exhibition: Performing With The Video from the prolific Mexican Artist Pola Weiss. This's her first retrospective in the UK and her first one in Europe since 1987. Weiss was the pioneer of video art in Mexico and Latin America; her work includes diverse media forms staged for the video camera such as dance and music as well as technological experiments with video cameras and televisions.
The exhibition presents 12 video works including seminal works such as Flor Cosmica 1977, Videodanza Viva Videodanza 1979 and Mi Corazón 1985. A series of documents from the Arkheia Archive will be on show as well to illustrate how she challenged normative female experiences and relations between society and technology.
The exhibition has been made possible thanks to the kind support of MUAC Museum, TV UNAM and The Arts Council of England.

BOSCO SODI: YŪGEN
Mexican artist Bosco Sodi presents at BLAIN|SOUTHERN Gallery in London his extraordinary Yūgen collection, which takes its title from the Japanese concept for aesthetic appreciation, referring to the subtle and hidden beauty that evokes feelings that are inexplicably deep and too mysterious to be described in words. The exhibition consists of rock sculptures and large-scale impasto paintings made with layers of pure pigment, water, glue and natural fibres. Sodi’s relationship with raw materials and natural elements draws from wabi-sabi, Japanese aesthetic philosophy that embraces the ability to find beauty in imperfection, and reveres natural authenticity.
Sodi was born in Mexico City in 1970 and is based in New York. He has had exhibitions at Pace Gallery (New York), Galería Hilario Galguera (Mexico City), Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso (Mexico City), Taka Ishii Gallery (Kyoto), Project B (Milan), and the Bronx Museum of the Arts (New York).
