Alberto Lozano is a Mexican photographer who has studied photography and lighting in Mexico City and Canada. Lozano began his career as a journalist and a media-press officer; he was always an enthusiast photographer. He authored the official portraits of the former Ambassador of Mexico in Canada and UK as well as others in the UK. The talented Mexican percussionist Eusebio Sanchez, winner of the City Music Foundation International Scholarship, joins some CMF musicians for a marimba concert that evokes rhythms, harmonies and colours that characterizes music in Mexico and other Latin American latitudes. Eusebio Sanchez was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. He began his musical studies at the School of Music and Dance (Mexico) when he was 9 years old. Later, he received instruction from internationally renowned percussionists and marimba players as Norberto Nandayapa and Makoto Nakura. Besides, Sánchez has experienced participating with different musical ensembles. |

In this concert, Sánchez will be interpreting for the first time some of the works included in his next álbum, released in June 2016. Sanchez will be performing pieces of Mexican composers, Manuel M. Ponce and Israel Moreno, as well as Argentinians Guillo Espel and Astor Piazzolla, reproducing sounds between classical virtuosity and popular tradition. |

Nortec Collective (Bostich + Fusible) in Glastonbury Festival 2016

Nortec Collective is a musical collaboration formed in 1999 in the city of Tijuana, Baja California (Mexico). It is currently composed by two members, Bostich and Fusible, who also work in solo projects. They collaborate with each other by combining innovatively contemporary sounds of electronic music with different traditional sounds genres of the North part of the country, as Tambora and Banda. Nortec has been very well received by the international music scene. The collective has participated in numerous festivals sharing the stage with artists like Beck, Lenny Kravitz, Kronos Quartet and Ennio Morricone. Among their awards, Bostich and Fusible had received several nominations for the Grammy Awards. This year, Nortec Collective presents at the Glastonbury Festival 2016. Glastonbury is the largest festival of its kind in the world. The programme includes a variety of musical artists, both renowned and new talents, and also a variety of cultural performances that conjoined dance, theatre, circus, comedy, and cabaret. “Leonora Carrington/Lucy Skaer” Exhibition at Leeds College of Art
| Leonora Carrington (1917 - 2011) was an English artist and writer who lived much of her adult life in Mexico. Carrington was an important figure in the avant-garde scene of the 20th century. She had a great international presence among the Surrealists, because her work was characterized by her proximity to that cultural movement as well as the interest held in her later years to defend women’s liberation. |

Lucy Skaer (b. 1975) is a British artist, born in Cambridge, whose work is characterized by the relationship between abstraction and material nature of objects. Skaer’s work has shown particular commitment to historical images or objects representing symbols of British culture and landscape. Ahead of the commemoration of the 2017 centenary of Carrington’s birth, the exhibition "Leonora Carrington/Lucy Sakaer ", curated by Catriona McAcra repositions the artist’s work in relation to different contemporary responses, including "Leonora" (2006 ) by Lucy Skaer and performative proposals by Samantha Sweeting and Lynn Lu. In addition, the exhibition complements a forthcoming essays collection co-edited by the McAcra and Jonathan P.
