CAMDEN MARKET TO HOST OFFICIAL DAY OF THE DEAD FESTIVAL IN COLLABORATION WITH THE EMBASSY OF MEXICO
World-famous Camden Market has partnered with the Embassy of Mexico to bring an immersive four-day celebration of Mexican culture and creativity, right to the heart of the capital.
As London’s global melting pot of creativity and culture, Camden Market is bringing the 3,000-year-old Mexican tradition to life with a Market-wide takeover. Art installations will be available to view for the entire four days, Thursday 31st October to Sunday 3rd November however the majority of the pop-ups, workshops, and installations will take place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd November, promising to ignite the senses and span the mediums of food, drink, art and performance.
The Market will be transformed and decorated with intricate shrines designed by Mexican artists that host various performances including live mariachi bands, Mexican music and poetry readings.
Londoners can get into the Mexican spirit through a range of family-friendly, creative and educational workshops ranging from skull mask-making to jewellery and face-painting inspired by Mexico’s oldest Day of the Dead traditions. Check the website for a full workshop itinerary.
Influenced by the Xochimilco’s extensive network of canals and picturesque trajineras’, one of Camden Market’s longboats will be fully dressed in bright colours and flowers, and will host a mini Mexican Market where Camden Market will embrace Mexico’s food and drink scene by serving native delicacies.
In the evening of 2nd, the fiesta will carry on at Gabeto, who are hosting a Day of the Dead themed party, continuing into the early hours.
