The Consular Section of the Mexican Embassy provides a range of services to Foreign Nationals citizens travelling or residing in Romania, including issuance of visas, among other things.

HOLDERS OF U.S.A. CANADA, U.K. AND SCHENGEN VISAS

Holders of current, valid multiple entry visa from Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or any of the countries that make up the Schengen Area or permanent residence in Canada, United States, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, any of the countries that make up the Schengen Area, or  Chile, DO NOT require a Mexican visa to travel on business, tourism, or transit purpose for or less than 180 days as long as they present any of the mentioned documents at the point of entry. 

This migratory regulation does not apply to temporary residents (temporary residence card) as they require to apply for a Mexican visitor visa.

Foreign nationals, holders of above mentioned visa or permanent residence, must present the following documents at the port of entry in Mexico:

  1. A valid passport with more than six months of validity (Mexican authorities require a passport to be valid for the duration of the stay in Mexico, but transit countries and airline companies may have other requirements).
  2. A properly completed Multiple Migratory Form (FMM). The FMM can be obtained from the airline or at the port of entry.

Remember to keep the FMM in a safe place during your trip! You will be asked for it at your departure from Mexico.

  1. The Immigration Authorities at the port of entry may request certain documents to prove the purpose of your visit depending on the activity you will undertake in Mexico:
  • Tourism: Hotel reservation, itinerary, and return tickets (back to Romania or Moldova or another country), proof of financial means (international credit cards, bank statements or cash covering the entire period of stay).
  • Business: Letter in Spanish from the foreign company indicating that you are an employee and that that company will pay for the services you will provide in Mexico and that you will not receive any payment or salary from a company in Mexico, or a letter of invitation from a public or private institution to perform non-remunerated activities in Mexico, indicating the purpose of the trip, estimated time of stay and taking responsibility for your travel and lodging costs.
  • Student: Letter of invitation or acceptance from any institution pertaining to the National Educational System to take courses, conduct a research project or undertake academic training for up to 180 days.

Citizens of the countries listed here do not require a Mexican visitor visa to enter Mexico for business, tourism, short studies (under 6 months)

Visa holders are allowed to travel to Mexico, however, it is important to state that entry to the country is subject to the final decision of the Immigration and Health Authorities in Mexico on a case by case basis.

 

All visitors traveling to Mexico for tourist purposes (or attending conferences, seminars, workshops or meetings as long as they are not being paid in Mexico) must fill in the Multiple Migration Form. The FMM can be obtained from the airline or at the port of entry. It needs to be printed and presented to the Mexican Migration authorities at the point of entry.

We strongly advise NOT to make any travel arrangements until a decision on your visa has been made. The Embassy will not take any responsibility for any plane tickets purchased before your visa has been approved.

 

If your current passport was not issued within the last 2 years, you will also need to bring your latest expired passport.

Visas for less than 180 days

  1. TOURIST VISA
  2. Business or Technical visitor -Invitation by an organization that will pay for the trip
  3. Student Visa (less than 180 days)

Temporary Resident Visas

If the planned stay in Mexico exceeds 180 day and is less than 4 years, the person must apply for a long-term visa. Depending on the purpose, the person must comply with the following cases:

  1. Work Visa (INM Authorization required)
  2. Family reunification visa (for spouses and children)
  3. Temporary Resident Visa
  4. Ownership of Real Estate in Mexico 
  5. STUDENT VISA
  6. Investor
