The Power Of Identity : Queer Art 3.0

The Embassy of Mexico in the UK opens its doors to the LGBTQIA2S+ community and joins their cause through art in the cultural pop-up at the Mexican Residence. This is part of an ongoing effort to reinforce the Mexican agenda of inclusion and protection of the rights of LGBTQIA2S+ people, as well as to celebrate our beautiful diversity, rights and freedom.

 

 

 1rst Stage: How to enter?

  • Anyone in the UK of any nationality can participate (you do not need to be an artist).
  • Please fill in the attached registration form. Click here
  • The mediums of works can be any artistic and technical discipline.
  • The call for entries will open on 19 April 2024 and close on 12 July 2024.

2nd Stage: Receipt of artwork.

  • The organising committee will select the works to be exhibited and will inform their authors of this decision by email.

  • The reception of the works will take place at the Embassy of Mexico in the United Kingdom (16 St George Street Hanover Square W1S1FD).

3rd Stage: Selection and exhibition of Works

  • Selected works will be exhibited for one day only at an inaugural event, at the Embassy's cultural pop-up, located at 8 Halkin Street, London SW1X 7DW.
  • After the event, all participants will be informed by email of the date of delivery of their works, which will take place at the Embassy's cultural pop-up, located at 8 Halkin Street, London SW1X 7DW.
  • It is necessary to make an appointment, as the Embassy of Mexico cannot guarantee the availability of personnel for the delivery of the works if no reply is received.
  • The deadline for the return of material is fixed, the Embassy of Mexico cannot guarantee the safekeeping and care of the works for an indefinite period of time. The artists must commit themselves to receive their work in due time and form, otherwise the Embassy of Mexico disclaims any responsibility for the safekeeping of the work.

 Terms and conditions 

  1. The call for entries is open to any individual residing in the UK, without distinction.
  2. All information regarding entry to the competition is part of these terms and conditions. By submitting a registration participants tacitly accept these terms and conditions.
  3. Entries must be submitted by 12 July 2024 at 15:59 London time (GMT + 0).
  4. All entries submitted for participation must be an original creation of the persons submitting them.
  5. The entry must not be defamatory, obscene, or in violation of any regulation or legislation.
  6. All entrants must register with their name, postal address, telephone number, email address, and agree to the terms and conditions.
  7. The artworks selected to be exhibited will be chosen by an organizing committee established by the Embassy, which reserves the right to add or substitute any of the pieces without prior notification.
  8. By submitting the form, participants declare that they own the rights of the artwork. The participants consent to the use of their name and artwork to be featured in advertisements, educational material or publicity carried out by the Embassy on its website, social media and newsletters without prior notification or compensation. The Embassy may publish or not publish, use or not use, any artwork submitted while the participant retains all ownership rights as well as the rights to publish or use their entries.
  9. Entrants must cover all costs and expenses of transporting their artwork and, if applicable, themselves. The Embassy will not be responsible for the possible damage and/or loss of the artworks that they may suffer during any stage of the call for entries.
  10. The verdict of the Embassy, as well as of the members of the organising committee of the competition, is final and cannot be appealed.
  11. The Embassy will not be responsible for artworks that are damaged, lost, mistreated, incomplete or delivered by illicit means, and reserves the right to reject works that do not comply with the rules of the call for entries. Furthermore, the Embassy will not be held responsible for technical problems that make it impossible to submit the application form to the competition.
  12. The personal contact details of entrants collected by the Embassy will not be used for purposes other than those specified in these terms and conditions.
  13. The Embassy reserves the right to modify, cancel or suspend the exhibition in the event of circumstances unforeseen by the Embassy without prior notification.
  14. The Embassy will not be responsible for any errors or omissions that may exist in the publicity material related to this call for entries.
  15. Participants must comply with the rules and terms and conditions of this call and will be deemed to have accepted and understood them if they participate.
