“MEXICO DAY” BUSINESS SEMINAR 2016

LONDON, United Kingdom, 23rd September 2016. - In order to consolidate business opportunities offered by our country, the Embassy of Mexico along with the Mexican Chamber of Commerce (MexCC) organise the business seminar “Mexico Day”.

During 2015, in the framework of the celebration of the year of Mexico in the United Kingdom, and the UK in Mexico, “Mexico Day” will be an ideal platform for companies and entrepreneurs of both countries to discuss about trade and investment opportunities in Mexico, as well as potential alliances, exchanges and synergies in different key sectors such as energy, insurance, food and beverage and financial services technology.

The event, which will take place on 30th September 2016 at Mansion House will be attended by representatives of trade and finance, headed by Rt Hon the Lord Mayor, The Lord Mountevans, Jeffrey Evans (Alderman), who will underpin the importance of the event, along with high-level officials of both governments.

Since its first edition, the “Mexico Day” has contributed to keep projecting the economic and trading dynamism of Mexico as an ideal destination for investment, where last year received foreign capital equivalent to USD $30 billion. Currently the UK remains as the 5th largest trading partner of Mexico in Europe and 14th in the world.

The business seminar will have a series of workshops about key-sectors including energy, insurance, food, beverages and financial services technology (fintech). Representatives of the Mexican Secretariats of Energy and Finance and Public Credit have confirmed their participation and will update British representatives about the most recent actions regarding the implementation of the reforms.

Between 2010 and 2015, the UK invested in Mexico near USD $1.7 billion in financial services mostly from the banking sector. British companies have participated in banking Mexican markets, assets management, mergers and acquisitions; insurance, reinsurance; and private equity funds, among others.
