A proposal that goes from an apparent place to an indeterminate time, where movement, light and shadow take us on a journey through mental spaces of the unconscious.
A look at our own internal reality that projects something apparent to us, that only exists in us and that is expressed through radical forms that synthesize images, magnifies them and leads them to a movement in transformation that is summarized in a language .. in a Space and time ...
Alejandro Dorantes, whose direction in life is to seek, begins as descriptive, with moments of classicism, distorts reality to reach the abstract. The loss of the figure directs the chaos of ideas. Most of his pictorial work is identified with such language, he captures the essence more than the colour, which explains why his first work is monochromatic and he introduces colour at a later stage

The Embassy of Mexico in Ireland is pleased to invite the general public to visit the exhibition of the traditional Altar of the Dead, which this year will pay homage to the illustrious writers Rafael Alberti of Spain, Juan Rulfo of Mexico, and Patrick Kavanagh of Ireland, who with their works have enriched universal literature.
The "Day of the Dead" is one of the most spectacular celebrations in Mexico. During the last week of October and especially on the 1st and 2nd of November, millions of Mexicans celebrate their dead in a festival that UNESCO declared as the Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity (a distinction also awarded to Traditional Mexican cuisine in 2010).
The celebration is an example of an exceptional religious and cultural syncretism that brings together the traditions of the more than 40 ethnic groups that live in Mexico with contributions from European, African and Asian cultures.
While places like Patzcuaro, Tzintzuntzan, Huaquechula, Tepotztlan and Mixquic are characterized by the polychrome of their Day of the Dead celebration, festivities in
cemeteries churches, houses and public places take place all over Mexico including cities such as Morelia, Guadalajara, Puebla, Oaxaca, Guanajuato, Querétaro and Mexico City, all of them included in the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.
Likewise, the altar is intended to pay homage to the memory of the people who lost their lives as a result of the earthquakes in Mexico this September.
Place: Instituto Cervantes de Dublin. Lincoln House, 6-16 Lincoln Pl, Dublin 2.
Dates: from Monday to Saturday from November 2 to 11, 2017.
Hours: Monday to Thursday from 12:00-19:00 hours; and Friday and Saturday from 10:00-14:00 hours.

My name is Laura and I'm from Mexico City,
I was born and raised in the south of the city - the greenest, most colorful part. It was there that as a child I became attracted to different languages and cultures - a passion that led me to travel first around my own country and then abroad.
Working as a business IT trainer enabled me to visit Spain. My experiences there not only helped me to learn about the many different cultures within Spanish society, but also gave me a deeper understanding of my own culture, seeing it from the outside.
But it was in London and Brighton where I found my second home. It was here where I applied my teaching skills to languages and used language to help people learn about the Hispanic world using materials that I develop myself. I started off with just 7 students (1 each day of the week!), mainly people who traveled to Mexico, Spain and Latin America for work, holidays or on sabbatical. The number of students increased very quickly and in addition to group classes and special events, I also taught 270 students in the most prestigious private and state schools in Blackheath and Greenwich. I've been treated amazingly well and meet the most interesting people. I now also work with partners to promote a new, positive and fresh image of Mexico and Latin America. Although years have passed and the business has grown I'm pleased to say my 7 original students are still among those taking classes with me :)
