INAUGURATION OF THE MEXICAN
HONORARY CONSULATE IN KIGALI, RWANDA
On this day, the Government of Mexico inaugurated its Honorary Consulate in Kigali, Rwanda. The Honorary Consul, Aimable Rudakemwa Rumongi, was accompanied by Rwanda’s Undersecretary of Commerce and Industry, Michel Sebera, as well as other government authorities, members of the diplomatic and consular corps, local entrepreneurs, and members of the Mexican community living in the country. The Honorary Consul pointed out that Rwanda is interested in the commerce of Mexican agricultural products, transport, industry and tourism.
The inauguration ceremony was carried out by the Deputy Head of Mission in Kenya, Francisco E. Romero Bock, who informed the audience about Mexico’s priority in consular affairs and, specially, in the protection of Mexican citizens abroad.
Mexico and Rwanda established diplomatic relations on January 21st, 2016. Since then, the Government of Rwanda has concurrently maintained presence in Mexico through its Embassy in the United States of America. The Embassy of Mexico in Kenya is concurrently responsible for the relations with Rwanda.
