TOURIST VISA

All visas are processed at the Mexican Embassy in Bucharest (Str. Herastrau 18, sector 1, Bucharest, Romania, tel: +4 021 210 47 28 or +4 021 210 45 77). The physical presence of the applicant at the Embassy is an absolute requirement for the biometric process and interview.

On the scheduled date and time of your interview appointment you must present:

1. Visa application form - Click here (print on both sides)
2. Current passport with a minimum validity left of six months and copy. If your current passport was not issued within the last 2 years, you will also need to bring your latest expired passport.
3. One passport size photograph with white background and visible facial traits (i.e. hair not covering the face)
4. Proof of legal stay in Romania (Visa, Residence card, passport with Romanian immigration entry stamp) in case the applicant holds another nationality. 
5. ONE of the following documents: either

Proof of financial situation:

  • a. Savings-account bank statements which show an average monthly balance of at least €3,980 in the last three months (recently opened bank accounts will not be accepted). If you do not have a printed and stamped version of your statements, they will not be taken into consideration in the assessment process, even if you have electronic access to them. We do not need to see your transactions, only the bank statement page where the following elements are visible: your name, bank account details, date, and end balance for the month.
    b. Last three work payment receipts AND an original employment letter which expresses position held, salary and period of time working (minimum of one year) at the company or institution. Must be printed in company´s official stationary and bear original signatures and official company stamp. The monthly income must be over €1,326. You must also show bank statements showing the transfer of the salary into your account. If the bank statements were issued electronically, they must be printed by you and stamped by the issuing bank.
  • c. If you are currently studying in Romania, proof of enrolment at a university/school AND a document showing that you have a steady job, a pension or a scholarship, including your monthly income of the last three months (salary, allowances, pension or scholarship). The monthly income for students must be over €796 for every month.

Property

  • d. Ownership of real state property for a minimum of two years AND a letter of your employer stating that you’ve been working for that company for a minimum of two years. OR
    e. Ownership of real state property for a minimum of two years AND an official document stating the ownership or your participation in a business/company for at least two years.

IMPORTANT: Documents that are not in either Spanish or English need to be accompanied by a certified translation into Spanish. Furthermore, any official documents that are not issued by Romanian authorities need to be legalized.

  1. Payment of consular fees: check "TARIFAS". The payment is in US Dollars, cash and the exact amount, payable to the Mexican Consulate. A receipt will be issued accordingly. The payment will NOT be refunded if the visa application is rejected.

Requirements for children:

  1. Original passport valid for at least six months and photocopy of the first page.
  2. Proof of legal stay in Romania (Visa, Residence card, passport with Romanian immigration entry stamp) in case the applicant holds another nationality. .
  3. Application form duly filled (printed in one page, double sided). (Download here).
  4. One recent passport-sized photograph (4.5 CM X 3.5 CM), white background, without glasses. Face should cover 80% of the photo.
  5. Original and photocopy of the birth certificate duly apostilled.
  6. Original parents' passport and photocopy of the first page.
  7. Copy of employment letter of the main applicant.
  8. Copy of salary slips of the main applicant.
  9. Copy of main applicant's original bank statement.
  10. Visa fee: check "Tarifas". (The payment is in US Dollars, cash).

Processing time: One hour after handing in the documentation, in a complete and satisfactory manner.

Procedure: Each person interested (adult or child) must apply for an appointment by Mi Consulado for a tourist visa, for a period that does not exceed 180 days.

A consular officer will interview you. Your visa interview will be held in English or Spanish. If the consular interview is satisfactory, the visa could be issued on the spot. For cases that need data verification or submission of further documentation, the processing period could take up to 10 working days. Therefore, it is important to plan your trip taking into consideration this waiting period.

The applicant is responsible to bring all required original civil documents, and photocopies of the original civil documents, to the visa interview. Failure to bring all required original civil documents and the photocopies to the interview may cause delay or denial of the visa.

Notes:

  • We strongly advise NOT to make any travel arrangements until a decision on your visa has been made. The embassy will not take any responsibility for any plane tickets purchased before your visa has been approved.
  • Having a Mexican visa gives the possibility to travel to the country, but the entry to Mexican territory is subject to the final decision of the Immigration and Health Authorities in the country.
