Procedure for Scheduling Visa Appointments
1. Access the Portal:
Visit the official website at citas.sre.gob.mx with a desktop computer or Laptop to begin the appointment scheduling process.
2. Language Selection:
On the account creation page, select your preferred language (e.g., English or French) from the available options at the top of the page.
3. Account Creation:
- Register using your full name as it appears in your passport.
- Appointments are non-transferable and must match the name on your travel documents.
4. Browser Recommendations:
- Use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to manage your appointment.
- The system may not function properly on mobile devices.

Appointment Availability:
If the message "no office found" appears, it means all appointments for the current month are fully booked.
Release of New Appointments:
New slots are released on the last business day of each month, around 5 PM (Nigeria time). Slots may open an hour earlier or later.
Advance Registration:
- Create your account in advance to increase your chances of securing a slot.
- Slots are limited and fill up quickly.
- All appointments must be scheduled through the official portal.
Once You Have Scheduled an Appointment
1. Appointment Day:
Bring your appointment confirmation to the Embassy.
2. Required Documents:

3. Interview:
- On the date of the appointment, you must present ALL REQUIREMENTS based on the type of visa you are applying for.
- Bring all your supporting documents (originals and copies).
- Biometric data (photograph and fingerprints) will be collected prior to the interview.
- Interviews are conducted in Abuja, Nigeria, at the Embassy premises.
- Only individuals with confirmed appointments will be granted entry to the Embassy.
- Please note that mobile phones, tablets, or any electronic devices are not permitted inside the Embassy premises.

What is this visa?
This is a visa for foreign nationals who wish to visit Mexico without engaging in remunerated activities, for a maximum period of 180 days.
Validity and Permitted Entries:
- Validity: Up to 180 days.
- Entries: Multiple entries during the visa’s validity.
Immigration Facilitation for Traveling to Mexico
1. Who can enter without a Mexican visa:
- Holders of valid and current multiple-entry visas from the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, or Schengen countries.
- Permanent residents of those territories or Pacific Alliance countries.
Requirements:

1. Payment of processing fee:
Visa applications at the Embassy of Mexico incur a non-refundable fee in Naira equivalent to $54.00 USD, which must be deposited directly into the Embassy’s bank account.
2. Application form:
Submit the printed and duly completed and signed visa application form in person, as biometric data (photograph and fingerprints) are required.
3. Valid passport:
Original and a copy of your passport or travel and identity document valid under international law, with at least 6 months of validity before its expiration date.
4. Recent photograph:
- One color photograph, with a white background, no glasses, and the face fully visible. Passport size: between 32x26mm and 39x31mm.
5. Document proving legal stay:

- Original and copy of a document proving ownership or participation in businesses issued by the competent authorities of the respective country, with a minimum age of 2 years.

- Original and copy of documents proving employment or pension with tax-free income equivalent to $1,359.34 USD for the last 3 months.
- Original and copy of proof of stable employment with a minimum tenure of 1 year.

- Original and copy of investment proofs or monthly average balance equivalent to $4,078.01 USD for the last 3 months.
3. In case applicant is a full time student:
- Original and copy of a certificate of enrollment from a higher education institution.
- Original and copy of proof of monthly income equivalent to $815.60 USD for the past three months.
1. Invitation Letter:
The Mexican organization must submit an original letter of responsibility including:
- Full name and nationality of the applicant.
- Official information and registration of the organization (if applicable).
- Purpose of the public or private organization or institution.
- Complete address and contact details of the organization or institution.
- Details of the activity to be carried out in Mexico, duration.
- Commitment to cover maintenance and return of the invitee, including air travel, accomodations, meals, etc.
- Copy of official ID with a signature and photograph of the person signing the letter.

2. Mexican Organization’s Bank Statements:
The applicant must provide the bank statements of the Mexican organization or institution extending the invitation, demonstrating a monthly average balance of at least $13,593.37 USD over the past 12 months.
(Mexican Public institutions and educational institutions belonging to the National Educational System are not required to prove financial solvency.)
3. Proof of Experience and Skills:
Documents proving your ability or experience to carry out the activity for which you were invited.
For example: degrees, diplomas, etc.
1. Acceptance Letter:
Original and copy of the acceptance letter issued by an educational institution registered in the National Educational System in Mexico, including:
- Full name and nationality of the applicant.
- Level, degree, and area of study to be undertaken.
- Name of the course or academic activity. - Start and end dates of the course or academic activity.
- Tuition cost for the course or academic activity.
- Identification and official registration details of the institution.

2. Proof of Financial Solvency:
You must demonstrate resources to cover tuition, accommodation, and living expenses during your stay through:
- Option 1: Original and copy of investment proofs or bank account statements with a monthly average balance equivalent to $2,039.01 USD for the last 3 months.
- Option 2: Original and copy of documents proving employment, pension, or scholarship with tax-free income equivalent to $1,359.34 USD for the last 3 months.
Important: Financial solvency can be proven by:
- The applicant.
- Parents, spouse, partner, or equivalent figure.
- Legal guardian or person with parental authority.
- Letter from the educational institution confirming that the applicant has a scholarship.
- Document from a financial institution proving funding.
If you wish to travel to Mexico to participate in religious activities, you must include in your visa application a document called "Authorization" issued by the Mexican Ministry of the Interior.

This is a visa for foreign nationals who wish to enter Mexico as temporary residents to stay for a period exceeding 180 days and up to a maximum of 4 years.

AFTER ENTERING MEXICO WITH THIS TYPE OF VISA, YOU MUST REPORT TO THE NEAREST OFFICE OF THE “NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MIGRATION” (INM) TO REQUEST A RESIDENT CREDENTIAL.

1. Diplomatic Communication
A copy of the communication issued by the diplomatic representation in Mexico of the country where the applicant is a national or resident, notifying the foreign individual that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) has received the necessary authorizations from the relevant national authorities.
2. Required Information in the Communication
The communication must include the following details:
- Applicant's full name and nationality:
Clearly specify the applicant's full name and nationality. - Name or corporate name of the organization:
The official name of the public or private organization inviting the foreign individual. - Activity or project details:
Information about the activity or project in which the foreign individual will participate. - Duration of the activity:
The estimated duration or approximate end date of the activity to be carried out.
1. Letter of Responsibility
The inviting public or private organization must issue an original letter of responsibility that includes the following information:
- Applicant's full name and nationality:
Identification of the foreign individual. - Organization's name or corporate name:
The official name of the inviting organization. - Official registration number:
The organization’s registration number, if applicable. - Purpose of the organization:
Main purpose of the public or private institution extending the invitation. - Address and contact details:
Complete address and contact information of the organization or institution. - Activity or project details:
Description of the activity or project the foreign individual will undertake, aligned with the organization’s purpose. - Activity duration:
The estimated start and end dates of the activity. - Solidarity responsibility:
Declaration of responsibility for the foreign individual's maintenance during their stay in Mexico and their return to their home country or residence. - Copy of identification of the signatory:
A copy of an official ID with a photograph and signature of the person signing the letter.
2. Economic Solvency
To comply with the solidarity responsibility:
- Private organizations or institutions:
Must present original and a copy of proof of investments or bank accounts with an average monthly balance equivalent to $135,933.69 USD over the last 12 months. - Exceptions:
Public institutions and private institutions belonging to the National Education System do not need to prove economic solvency.
3. Applicant Documentation
The applicant must submit:
- Original and copy of documents proving their experience, capacity, skills, or knowledge necessary for the activity for which they are invited.
4. Maintenance Expenses
If the inviting institution does not cover maintenance expenses:
- Applicant's resources:
Original and copy of proof of investments or bank accounts with an average monthly balance equivalent to $67,966.85 USD over the last 12 months. - Or Employment or pension:
Original and copy of documents proving net monthly income exceeding $2,718.67 USD over the last 6 months.

The relative proving the relationship must accompany the applicant at the time of submitting the application.
1. Family Bond with a Foreign Holder of a Temporary Resident Visa or Temporary Student Resident:
If the applicant has a bond with a foreign holder of a temporary resident visa or temporary student resident, they must present:
- Spouse or Partner:
- Marriage certificate or document proving the partnership (original and copy).
- Children:
- Birth certificate of the child (original and copy).
- Parents:
- Applicant's birth certificate (original and copy), only if they are underage or under legal representation.
- Stepchildren:
- Applicant’s birth certificate (original and copy).
- Marriage certificate or equivalent document of the parents (original and copy).
Additionally:
- Valid temporary resident visa of the foreign holder (original and copy).
- Proof of economic solvency:
- Monthly average balance equivalent to $1,359.34 USD for the last 12 months.
- Documents proving tax-free income equivalent to $1,359.34 USD for the last 6 months.
2. Marriage or Partnership with a Foreign Permanent Resident Holder:
Required documentation:
- Marriage certificate or document proving the partnership (original and copy).
- Valid permanent resident visa of the foreign holder (original and copy).
3. Marriage or Family Bond with a Foreign Holder of Temporary Resident or Student Resident Status:

- Spouse or Partner:
- Marriage certificate or equivalent document (original and copy).
- Children:
- Birth certificate (original and copy).
- Parents:
- Applicant's birth certificate (original and copy) if they are underage or under legal representation.

Additionally:

- Letter from the educational institution confirming the foreign holder with student temporary resident status is currently enrolled.
4. Marriage or Partnership with a Permanent Resident Holder:

5. Marriage or Partnership with a Mexican Citizen:
- Marriage certificate or equivalent document (original and copy).
- Document proving Mexican nationality (original and copy).
- Registered public deed proving ownership of real estate with a value exceeding $271,867.38 USD (original and copy).
1. Participation in the Share Capital of a Mexican Legal Entity
The applicant must submit:
- Deed or policy of the Mexican legal entity:
Document issued before a Notary Public or certified by the administrative body or competent official of the Mexican legal entity. - Investment accreditation:
Proof that the foreign individual participates in the share capital of the Mexican legal entity and that the investment exceeds $271,867.38 USD. - Proof of investment:
This can be demonstrated through:- Share purchase agreements.
- Asset or rights transfer agreements in favor of the Mexican legal entity.
- A document issued by the Mexican legal entity certifying the amount contributed as share capital.
Original and copy required.
2. Ownership or Title of Movable Assets or Fixed Assets
- Proof of ownership or title:
Evidence of movable or fixed assets owned by the foreign legal entity and used for economic or business purposes.- The value of these assets must exceed $271,867.38 USD.
3. Development of Economic or Business Activities
- Required documentation:
Evidence of economic or business activities conducted in Mexican territory, which can include:- Contracts.
- Service orders.
- Invoices.
- Receipts.
- Business plans.
- Licenses or permits.
- Proof from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) certifying that the foreign legal entity employs at least three workers.
