Ambassador Esteban Moctezuma participates in the Summit for Democracy on behalf of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador

 

The Embassy of Mexico in the United States informs that Ambassador Esteban Moctezuma Barragán is participating on behalf of Mexico and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in the Summit for Democracy convened by the President of the United States, Joe Biden, on December 9 and 10, 2021.

The Summit for Democracy is a call by the government of the United States to strengthen democracies, fight corruption, promote human rights widely, and make the world a safer and more equitable place. In a virtual forum, it brings together heads of State and government, civil society leaders, journalists, the private sector, and other relevant actors.

Ambassador Moctezuma participated in the opening and plenary sessions. Additionally, on Friday, December 10, he will present a video-recorded message highlighting the strengths of Mexican democracy, such as access to free elections, freedom of the press, the right to dissent, and political plurality.

Likewise, the Ambassador of Mexico will reaffirm the efforts and achievements of the government of President López Obrador to reduce poverty, eradicate inequality, and combat corruption.
