Meridian International Center’s Fifth International Children’s Festival took place on May 21, 2011, as an educational fun-fair that brings together the DC community and the diplomatic corps of Washington, D.C. This year, 25 embassies hosted booths representing their country and culture. The Mexican Cultural Institute created an exciting, interactive display which included Mexican toys, crafts, typical “dulces mexicanos” and other interactive activities highlighting Mexico’s rich cultural heritage. Hundreds of guests crossed Meridian’s threshold to move from country to country making their way ‘around the world.’ Representatives from the Mexican Cultural Institute were present to answer questions and talk about Mexican traditions and culture.
