Temporary Residence based of family ties.

Requirements

 

  1. Application form duly filled - (Download).
  2. One passport-size photograph with face and head uncovered, in color with a white background. 
  3. For applicants who are not citizens of Sweden, Lithuania, or Latvia but reside in one of these countries, please submit a copy of your valid Swedish, Lithuanian, or Latvian residence permit. If you are a citizen of another EU member state, please provide a proof of registration issued by the local authorities. If you do not meet these criteria, please contact the Mexican Embassy nearest to your place of habitual residence.
  4. You can choose one (1) of these options to prove the family ties:

OPTION 1

If you are married to a Mexican:

  1. ORIGINAL of the extract of information from Skatteverket (Tax office) stamped and signed issued no more than two (2) months ago or Mexican marriage certificate. COPIES are NOT VALID. NOTE: If the marriage certificate is issued by authorities other than Mexican or Swedish, it must be apostilled and translated into English or Spanish.
  2. Valid Mexican passport and Mexican birth certificate of the spouse.

OPTION 2

If you are married to a person holding a Mexican temporary residence:

  1. ORIGINAL of the extract of information from Skatteverket (Tax office) stamped and signed issued no more than two (2) months ago or if the marriage was not performed in Sweden, the certificate must be apostilled and translated into English or Spanish.
  2. ORIGINAL valid Mexican temporary residence card/visa of the person residing in Mexico. The presence of the person is required.
  3. ORIGINAL bank account statements from the past twelve (12) months of the person residing in Mexico or holding a Mexican temporary residence visa must be submitted. If the bank statements are from a financial institution outisde Sweden, Lithuania, Latvia or Mexico, they must be apostilled. Alternatively, you may provide an employment letter stating the start date of employment, net monthly salary (after taxes), along with the last twelve (12) pay slips from the person residing in Mexico or holding a Mexican temporary residence visa

 Please note that the visa is valid for only 6 months, during which time it must be exchanged in Mexico for a temporary residence card.
