The Mexican visual artist Laureana Toledo, will present her sound and video installation, Order and Progress, at Groundwork Festival.

Order and Progress explores Britain’s presence in the Mexican isthmus, where the artist spent her early childhood.

Drawing from Toledo’s research into the connections between Mexico and Great Britain, the project examines historical events to question the idea of progress through development, and to investigate the political, social, and cultural contexts shared by these countries. Toledo’s piece will be presented at Groundwork with live performances by cellist Natalia Perez Turner.

Groundwork is a project which brings internationally celebrated artists to Cornwall during the summer, presenting a season of exceptional international contemporary art in stunning locations.
