On the 25th of June, Whitechapel Gallery invites us to join “The Poetics of the Reel”, with Eugenio Polgovsky and submerge in a different view to the insights of Mexico’s less privileged.

The award-winning Mexican documentarist presents the London premieres of his lyrical, engaged essay films Tropic of Cancer (2004) and The Inheritors (2009), in dialogue with special guests drawn from across disciplines. Following the screening, Polgovsky will be joined in conversation by Erica Segre, director and lecturer in Latin American Studies and Senior Fellow at Trinity College, University of Cambridge.

Eugenio Polgovsky career as documentarist, filmmaker and visual artist, always explores colliding conditions of life in Mexico from a poetic eye. His stories, from mega-cities to forgotten towns, have received praise at festivals including Cannes and Berlin. Currently, Polgovsky is completing a Fellow Commoner in Creative Arts in Trinity College, Cambridge.
