The festival aims to promote new talents and is at the forefront on digital and interactive programming, including virtual reality. This edition of the festival features two Mexican works, one documentary and one short film. The Documentary Artemio, by Sandra Luz López Barroso, portrays the life of a ten-year-old boy who was born and raised in the United States and who returns to Mexico to meet his mother, a woman from Costa Chica in Oaxaca. The documentary was derived from a photographic project that López Barroso made around Catalina Noyola Bruno, a hundred years lady and who actually was Artemio´s great-grandmother. This work is also a close-up to the almost known black community of Mexico. |

The short film Uriel y Jade, by Eduardo Esquivel, reflects the story of a young choreographer who lives in the town of Mezcala, adverse experiences have marked his life confusing his identity. Being Mezcala a very conservative place, Uriel is in a fight to define its sexual orientation. |
