Orkesta Mendoza’s live explosives performances are coming to the UK this month in line with the Latin Music Festival “La Linea”. The group, with a mix of cumbia, mambo, indie and borderline “rumbadelica” is presenting its brash and unique music style in an effortlessly, classy and enormous fun show. |

Sergio Mendoza, founder and leader of the group, was born in Nogales, Arizona and raised in Nogales, Sonora. Nowadays, he is considered one of the great innovators of the Arizona Music Scene and he has proved to be an artist in essence as a composer, arranger, producer and programmer who plays keyboards, guitar, percussion and horns. The Orkesta Mendoza started in 2009, as a one-off tribute project to the Cuban Mambo King, Perez Prado, but it proved too much fun to stop. Today, the group music aims to imagine what Nogales would sound like if the border didn’t exist, blending cumbia and mambo with psychedelic rock, polka, country and electronica, the music he and his band make isn’t Mexican or American.
