Dr Concepción Company Company’s lecture:
“La identidad lingüística del español de México” (Spanish)

 

     The Embassy of Mexico in the United Kingdom, King’s College London (Modern Language Centre) and the UNAM – UK (Centre for Mexican Studies) are pleased to invite you to Dr Concepción Company Company’s lecture: “La identidad lingüística del español de México” (in Spanish).

     Dr Concepción Company Company is Professor Emeritus at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. She is a numerary member of Academia Mexicana de la Lengua (chair V) and member of El Colegio Nacional.

     Her fields of research are: historical syntax, the theory of language change, and corpus linguistics. She is the author of 7 books, editor of 23 and almost 100 articles and/or chapters in books. She has been invited to participate as a plenary speaker in 25 international conferences.

     She is the director and co-author of Sintaxis histórica de la lengua Española, 7 volumes, 2006, 2009, 2104, printed by the Fondo de Cultura Económica and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, which is the first historical syntax of Spanish and the first of any Romance language. She is co-director of Corpus Diacrónico y Diatópico del Español de América (CORDIAM) (www.cordiam.org).

     In addition to the lecture, Dr Company will be giving two courses: the first, “Grammar or Stylistics? The Pragmatic Exploration of Article + Possessive in Medieval Spanish” on Tuesday the 25th; followed by the second, “Lexicon as a Reflex of Culture. ‘Bad’ and ‘Good’ Words in the History of Spanish” on Thursday the 27th. Both courses will start at 18:30hrs. at the King’s College London Modern Language Centre, Room K-1.07.3 (Strand Campus, London, WC2R 2LS). The courses will be presented in English.
