South Social Film Festival is South London’s home for international independent films, music and food events. The Festival is a showcase for cross-cultural diversity screening films that will shock, enlighten, inspire and entertain the expat groups based in South London. As part of the series South Social Meets the World, arrives South Social Meets Mexico with a night of cinema, music and tacos!

On this occasion the Festival and Cinema Museum are pleased to present “Güeros” by Alonso Ruizpalacios, winner of 21 awards in festivals such as Berlin Film Festival, American Film Institute and Tribeca Film Festival.

“Güeros” narrates the story of 3 students in the middle of a university protest, who shoot a documentary about their search for a legendary folk singer. The story portrays everyday life in the many faces of Mexico City with a touch of surrealism, diversity in politics, race, friendship and cinema.

After the screening, soak into the atmosphere of Mexican cinema with live music performed by Las Adelitas, an all-women mariachi band,  and Mexican food by Café Pacifico.
