Metinides worked as a photographer of events from 1948 until his retirement in 1979, having taken thousands of photos and captured hundreds of stories around Mexico City, such as crime scenes, car crashes and natural disasters. |

He has showed his photographs at Casa de América, Madrid; la Central de Arte Guadalajara; The Photographers' Gallery London and Anton Kern Gallery in New York. He has won numerous prizes and received recognition from the Mexican government, journalists’ associations, rescue and judicial corps and Kodak of Mexico. In 1997 he received the “Espejo de Luz” (Mirror of Light) Prize, awarded to the country’s most outstanding photographer.
