Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón is a dance-theatre coproduction directed by José Luis Donaldson (Spain) and Efrén Sánchez (México). The show has been named as “highly recommended” by Canary Culture network (Spain) and it presents extracts the intense life of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo until moments before her death.  Premiered in Mexico City in 2008 as a part of the “Interculturalidad Canarias-México International Festival”, the show was very well received at several theaters with the support of the Spanish Embassy in Mexico and the Mexican Autonomous University (UNAM), amongst other private and public institutions, such as Canarias Crea. This one-hour original piece has been touring since its opening night with big success throughout México, Spain, United States and England. The show have been awarded with 3 Réplica Awards for Best Female Performance, Best Choreography and Best Original Show.
