The Embassies of Latin American countries, Spain, and Portugal, in collaboration with Itaú Unibanco, are delighted to launch the first ever “Ibero-American Arts Award”, an initiative organized by the Embassy of Brazil and ACALASP (Association of Cultural Attachés of Latin America, Spain and Portugal), in partnership with People’s Palace Projects, and sponsored by Itaú Unibanco, Latin America’s largest private bank. |

The contest invites artists of all nationalities who reside permanently in the United Kingdom with an aim to provide a space to exhibit their work, as well as promote the presence and visibility of Latin American art in these latitudes. To mark the 500th anniversary of the publication of Thomas More´s Utopia, participant artists should base their works on the theme of “Ibero-American Utopias”. Following the pre- selection process conducted by the curatorial committee, up to 30 works will then go on display for three weeks at the Embassy of Brazil. The Jury, who will judge the final selection, consists of five high-profile personalities from the Arts world, who combine expertise from the areas of curating, collecting and practicing art, as well as academia and cultural journalism, such as Robert Bound, Jerry Brotton, José María Cano, Marko Daniel and Catherine Petitgas. |

The winners will receive cash prizes. The first place will receive £3,000 and the opportunity to put on a solo exhibition at the Embassy of Brazil in the heart of London, second place £1,000 and the third prize will be decided by the visiting public and will receive £1,000. |

Submissions for the competition may include paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography and prints. Participants must be aged 16 or over. Entries can be submitted digitally up until 16 October 2016.
