The BFI London Film Festival is Britain’s leading film event and one of the world’s best and most established film festivals. This year the Festival will screen a total of 193 fiction and 52 documentary features, including 18 World Premieres, eight International Premieres and 39 European Premieres.

For 12 days (5-16 October, 2016) the Festival’s screenings will take place at  different venues across the capital, from the West End cinemas, Vue West End and the iconic Odeon Leicester Square; to central London venues such as, BFI Southbank, BFI IMAX, Picture house Central, the ICA, Curzon Mayfair, among others.

In its 60th anniversary, the BFI London Film Festival will present two feature films produced and directed by two renowned young Mexican directors: The Untamed from Amat Escalante, winner of the Best Director prize at Cannes for his 2013 drama Heli and Lupe Under the Sun,  by Rodrigo Reyes, who was named one of the 25 new faces of independent film by Filmmaker Magazine in 2013.

“The Untamed” explores the life a young couple living in the Mexican lowlands that struggle to find themselves but at the risk of destroying each other in the process. While the film “Lupe Under the Sun” is a neo-realist portrait of a undocumented Mexican worker in California. Reyes worked with non- professional actors, real farmworkers living in the heart of California, to tell a drama about the stories those who live on the margins of the American Dream.

Likewise, we would have the opportunity to see a Mexican-American co-production in a restore format; One Eyed Jacks, the first and only film directed by Marlon Brando.
