What is this visa?
This is a visa for foreign nationals who wish to enter Mexico as Students.
Validity and permitted entries:
- Validity: up to 180 days.
- Entries: one (1) entry.
AFTER ENTERING MEXICO WITH THIS TYPE OF VISA, YOU MUST VISIT THE NEAREST OFFICE OF THE “NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MIGRATION” (INM) TO APPLY FOR A RESIDENT CREDENTIAL.

Who can enter without a Mexican visa:
- Holders of valid and current multiple-entry visas from the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, or Schengen countries.
- Permanent residents of those territories or Pacific Alliance countries.
Requirements:
Please note that all documents are subject to verification. The process is done in person, so it is not possible to submit your documents via courier, mail, or through a third party.
1. Payment of the visa fee:
Visa applications at the Embassy of Mexico have a non-refundable charge in Nairas, equivalent to $54.00 USD, which must be deposited directly into the Embassy’s bank account.
2. Application form:
Submit the printed visa application form in person, duly completed and signed, as biometric information (photograph and fingerprints) is required.
3. Valid passport:
Original and a copy of your passport or travel and identity document valid under international law, with at least 6 months of validity before its expiration date.
4. Recent photograph:
- One color photograph, white background, without glasses, and with a visible face. Passport size: between 32x26mm and 39x31mm.
5. Document proving legal stay:
If you wish to apply at this Embassy, you must provide proof of legal residence in Nigeria or any other country within our jurisdiction, which includes: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Gabon, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Niger, and Togo.

6. Acceptance letter:
Submit the original acceptance letter issued by an institution that is part of the Mexican National Educational System. The letter must include:
- The applicant’s full name.
- Level, degree, and area of study to be undertaken.
- Name of the course in which the applicant has been accepted.
- Start and end dates of the course.
- Cost of tuition.
- Identification details of the educational institution.
PRINTED COPIES OF AN ORIGINAL LETTER SENT TO THE APPLICANT BY EMAIL OR DIGITALLY SIGNED LETTERS ARE NOT VALID.
7. Financial solvency:
Demonstrate financial solvency to cover tuition, accommodation, and living expenses during your stay in Mexico, through one of the following options:
- Monthly Income:
- Original and copy of documents proving tax-free income equivalent to $1,359.34 USD over the last 3 months (from employment, pension, or scholarship).
- Bank Accounts or Investments:
- Original and copy of proof of an average monthly balance equivalent to $13,593.37 USD over the last 3 months.

- Parents or a guardian, if the applicant is under 25 years old.

Birth Certificate:
- Minors must present their birth certificate as part of the requirements.

Accompaniment:
- Minors must be accompanied by both parents or their legal guardians to the visa appointment.
- If minors are not traveling with both parents or guardians, they must present an authorization issued before a notary public.
- The authorization must include copies of both parents’ or guardians’ official identifications.

Unaccompanied Minors:
- These requirements also apply to minors traveling alone.
Special Situations:
- In cases where a minor is traveling with only one parent or guardian, or if one parent is single, widowed, or divorced, corresponding legal documents must be presented to justify the situation.
- It is essential to check with your airline that you have all necessary documents for your transit and final destination, including visas or other migration requirements that may apply. This will ensure your trip proceeds smoothly and in compliance with the regulations of the countries involved.
