The Embassy

 

  

The Embassy's primary function is to officially represent the Mexican State before the government of the Republic of Kenya and concurrently before Burundi, the Union of the Comoros, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the United Republic of Tanzania, Rwanda, Seychelles and Uganda.

As well as before the United Nations agencies based in Nairobi, UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) and UN-HABITAT (United Nations Human Settlements Programme).

Gisele Fernández Ludlow

 

  Gisele Fernández Ludlow is a career member of the Mexican Foreign Service. Before her appointment as Ambassador of Mexico to Kenya in September 2025, she served as Chargé Executive Director of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad, leading the Government of Mexico’s global engagement with its diaspora.
Since joining the Foreign Service more than 20 years ago, Ambassador Fernández Ludlow has worked to strengthen Mexico’s international presence, promote sustainable development, advance human rights, and foster closer ties with Mexican communities abroad.
Throughout her diplomatic career, she has held diverse assignments both in Mexico and overseas, gaining extensive experience in consular affairs, multilateral diplomacy, and international cooperation. Her previous posts include Delegate for Human Rights at Mexico’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Advisor to the Presidency of the UN Human Rights Council, and Consul for Political and Border Affairs at the Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso, Texas, where she strengthened bilateral cooperation on migration and security.
In Mexico, she oversaw multilateral negotiations on climate change, the environment, and sustainable development, and led international outreach programs for the Mexican diaspora.
Ambassador Fernández Ludlow holds a Master’s degree in International Human Rights Law and Armed Conflict from the Geneva Graduate Institute, and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). She has also pursued specialized studies in international humanitarian law, governance, sustainability, South-South cooperation, and economic development.
