About Mexican Visa
I. For Tourism, Transit, Business Trips, etc. – For trips to Mexico with a duration of less than 180 days without engaging in remunerative activities, you are not required to obtain a visa if you meet one of the following conditions:
1. You possess a valid passport from one of the visa-exempt countries listed at the following link:

2. You possess a valid permanent resident card issued by Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, any country that is a member of the Schengen Area, as well as Chile and Colombia.
- or -
3. You possess a valid multiple-entry visa for Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, or any country that is a member of the Schengen Area. *This is different from a residence card.
- or -
4. You possess an APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) approved by Mexico.
- or -

If you do not meet any of the above conditions, you must apply for a visa to travel to Mexico.

Furthermore, all foreign nationals engaging in remunerative activities in Mexico must apply for a visa that includes work authorization.
II. Applicants for Temporary or Permanent Residency Based on Family Ties
If you are among those who do not require a visa to enter Mexico, you may enter visa-free and then apply directly for residency at a local immigration office (INM) upon arrival. For those who require a visa to enter Mexico, please apply for the appropriate visa at a Mexican embassy or consulate in advance.
III. Applicants for Permanent Residency (Temporary Stay, Students, or Retirees) Regardless of Work Authorization
Foreign nationals planning to stay for 180 days or more for residence, study, or work purposes, and who do not have a family relationship with a Mexican national or a foreigner holding a Mexican visa or residency, must obtain a visa in advance. After entering Mexico with a visa, you must complete the process of converting it into a residency card at the local immigration office (INM) within 30 days.
