Political division: According to Articles 40, 43, and 44 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, Mexico is constituted as a representative, democratic, secular, and federal Republic. The nation is composed of 32 federal entities—comprising 31 free and sovereign states along with Mexico City, which serves as the capital of the nation and seat of the Federal Powers—all united in a federation established under the principles of this fundamental law.

According to official data from the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) and INEGI, Mexico recorded the following international arrival numbers in 2025: Total International Visitors: 98.2 million people which includes both overnight tourists and day-trippers/cruise passengers. International Tourists (Overnight Stayers): 47.8 million people.
