THE LAST FRIDAY, THE 10TH OF JULY THE EXHIBITION SEGMENT VIII “FROM THE HEART OF MEXICO” WAS INAUGURATED IN THE GALLERY OF MAMŰ IN BUDAPEST

The SEGMENT VIII project, “From the heart of Mexico” aims to present contemporary art from Mexico; 44 works by 12 Mexican artists from different states of Mexico were exposed. 10 of them lunched the exhibition the 10th of July.

The Ambassador of Mexico in Hungary organized for the Mexican painters a reception the 9th of July, the day before the inauguration of the exhibition at the Embassy. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the exhibition.

The MAMŰ Gallery is an alternative place in the center of Budapest, frequented by artists of different nationalities. The works covered different topics and different forms of expression, a section for the topic "Day of the Dead" - that from its inception to these days has been a renowned holiday of the Mexican culture and worldview of the Mexican people – was also opened in the exhibition. The section of the “Lucha Libre” and the fragments of the Mexican game called Lotería were also really popular among the visitors.

Jaime Luna Robledo, the Consul of the Embassy inaugurated the event with the organizers of the exhibition, Csongor Szigeti, the director of the gallery, and the curators István Erőss and Daniela Jáuregui. The emphasized that the SEGMENT VIII Project was born as an artist exchange program between Mexico and Hungary in 2011, when Hungarian visual artist exhibited their artworks in the Gallery of Contemporary Art Amarate of the Riviera Maya.

The exhibition can be visited until the 31st of July. During these days the Mexican artists will offer conferences and talks to the Hungarian public.
