Celebration of the "Grito" 2014 in Budapest

On 16 of September, 2014 the Embassy of Mexico in Budapest commemorated the 204th anniversary of the Mexican War of Independence. At the event held in the Castle of Buda in the Museum of Military History the members of the Diplomatic Corp, representatives of the Government of Hungary, cultural and educational institutions, media representatives, business people, and of course the members of the Mexican community in with their families, and friends, as well as many others interested in the Mexican culture were present.

The celebration started with the national anthem of Hungary and then, the Ambassador of Mexico gave the “Grito”: upon evoking the bell’s ring that started the insurgence, she mentioned the names of the main heroes of the independence war to which the audience chanted VIVA after each name. After the national anthem of Mexico the Ambassador Mrs. Isabella Téllez and Mr. István Mikola, State Secretary for Security Policy and International Co-operation, present on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, cheered to the successful diplomatic relations between Mexico and Hungary. The two countries celebrated the 40. anniversary of  the reestablishment of their diplomatic relations and honoring this important milestone, each guest received a commemorative pin with the shapes of the national flags of the two countries.

After the ceremony everyone could enjoy the Mexican cuisine and typical Mexican music which was performed by the Mariachi band ”Los Caballeros” from Zagreb.
