Procedure for submitting the application

  1. Make sure you have the documentation indicated in the requirements.
  2. Request an individual appointment to submit your application. This procedure is completed by obtaining an appointment through the Mi consulado electronic system. You can access Here.
  3. Present yourself on the day and time of the assigned appointment to the consular section with the required documentation from the requirements list in order for the consular interview to be conducted. You must make the payment of the transaction fee on the same date as the appointment. The request for additional documents is at the discretion of the consular officer.
  4. The cost of the visa is $ 54.00 USD, to be paid at Scotiabank bank.
  5. The issuance of the visa is subject to the result of the consular interview.
Requirements

  1. Passport or travel document that is valid in accordance with the current international law, original document and a copy of the bio page (which contains photo and personal data), as well as the pages with visas or stamps. The document must be valid for at least 6 months.
  2. Submit the visa application form duly completed and printed on a single sheet of both sides. Download format Here, please do not fill out section V of the form.
  3. A recent passport-sized colour photograph, visible face and without spectacles, measuring a minimum of 32.0 millimeters x 26 millimeters and a maximum of 39.0 millimeters x 31.0 millimeters, white background, facing the front (no more than 30 days prior to the application).
  4. If the foreigner is not a national of the country where he/she applies for the visa; original and copy of the document that proves your legal stay.
  5. Present the documentation that proves any of the following:

    1. print

      1. Original and copy of real estate deed duly registered in the name of the applicant and proof of stable employment, both of which must be a minimum of two years old.

      2. Original and copy of document proving ownership or participation in a business issued by the competent authorities of the country which must be a minimum of two years old.

      a. Original and copy of the documents that show that you have a job or pension, specifying length of service, salary and position.

      b. Original and copy of proof of investments or bank accounts, with balances for the last 3 months.

      c. In the case of foreigners who study regularly in higher education institutions, they must present:

      1. Original and copy of proof of studies.
      2. Original and copy of proof of stable employment, pension or scholarship with monthly income free of encumbrances, during the last 3 months.

      1. Original of the respective letter from the organization or public or private institution that is inviting the applicant to participate in an unpaid event or activity in Mexico. The letter must contain the following information:
        1. Applicant's full name and nationality;
        2. Name of company or organization;
        3. Official registration number;
        4. Objective or purpose for the invitation from the organization or private institution as well as its full address;
        5. Information on the activity to be carried out or the project in which the applicant will participate. The activity of the applicant must be related to the purpose of the inviting organization or institution;
        6. Estimated duration or approximate date of completion of the activity to be carried out;
        7. The commitment to assume the expenses of the applicant during their stay in Mexico and their return to their country of origin or residence; and
        8. Copy of an official identification with signature and photograph of the person signing the responsive letter.
      2. In order to prove that it has the resources to comply with the obligation referred to in subsection g of the preceding paragraph, the inviting organization or private institution shall present an original and a copy of the investment voucher or bank account statement for the last 12 months prior to the date of the submission of the application.
      3. Public and private institutions belonging to the National Educational System that propose the invitation do not need to prove economic solvency.
      4. Original and copy of the documents with which the applicant proves that they have the experience, capacity, skills or knowledge necessary to carry out the activity for which they are being invited.

      1. Original and copy of the valid and current driver's license that authorizes the applicant to drive cargo vehicles in accordance with the local regulations in force.
      2. Original letterhead from the carrier company or association to which it belongs, addressed to the consular authority requesting the Mexican visa in favor of the applicant that indicates the type of merchandise that it transports, the most frequent routes used, stating that the applicant has the necessary financial resources to pay for their stay in Mexico. The letter should also contain:
        1. Applicant's full name and nationality;
        2. Name or company name of the transportation company or association;
        3. Full address and contact details of the company or association; and
        4. Copy of an official identification with the signature of the person signing the letter.

      You only have to comply with one of the sections indicated below:

      1. Serious state of health:
        1. If the applicant is a spouse, common-law wife or common-law partner of a foreigner who is in Mexico and is in a serious health crisis, the marriage certificate or proof of common-law relationship or equivalent figure issued by the competent authority in accordance with the applicable legislation of the country where the legal act was held, in original and copy; or
        2. If the applicant is the child of a foreigner who is in Mexico in a serious health crisis, the applicant's birth certificate, original and a copy; or
        3. If the applicant has a foreign child who is in Mexico, in a serious health crisis, the birth certificate of the foreign child, original and copy, and
        4. Original document stating the serious state of health in which the foreigner is found, issued by a public or private health institution in Mexico, with an issue date of no more than 30 calendar days (prior to the application) and that explicitly states that the foreigner who is in Mexico requires the support of a family member.
      2. Recognition or recovery of the corpse:
        1. If the applicant was the spouse, concubine or common-law partner of the foreign person who died in Mexico and their intervention is required for recognition or recovery of the corpse, marriage certificate or certificate of common-law union or equivalent figure issued by the competent authority in accordance with the applicable legislation of the country where the legal act was celebrated, original and copy; or
        2. If the applicant is the child of the foreigner, the applicant's birth certificate, original and a copy; or
        3. If the applicant is the father or mother of the foreigner, the birth certificate of the foreign child, in original and copy, and
        4. Original of the document stating that the applicant has been notified that their intervention is required for the recognition or recovery of the corpse issued by a competent authority or federal, state or municipal public institution.
      3. For public interest:
        1. Request of a dependency or entity of the Federal, State or Municipal Public Administration in the public interest to carry out, direct, coordinate or support relief or rescue actions in emergency or disaster situations in Mexico.

      1. Copy of the communication by which the diplomatic representation of Mexico, of the country of which they are nationals or residents notifies the foreigner that the SRE received the authorization from the competent national authorities. If they are foreigners who wish to enter to participate in scientific research projects and/or sample collection in Mexico or in jurisdictional waters of Mexico. The communication must contain the following information:

      1. Full name of the applicant and nationality;
      2. Name or company name of the organization or public or private institution that is inviting the foreigner;
      3. Information on the activity to be carried out or the project in which the foreigner will participate, and
      4. Estimated duration or approximate date of completion of the activity to be carried out.

      1. Original and copy of the acceptance letter from an institution belonging to the National Educational System to carry out courses, studies, research projects, and academic or professional training for a period of less than 180 days, with the institution's letterhead, stating the following:

      1. Full name of the applicant and nationality;
      2. Level, degree and area of study that the applicant intends to pursue;
      3. Name of the course or academic activity to which you have been accepted;
      4. Start and end date of the course or academic activity;
      5. Cost of registration for the course or academic activity, and
      6. Identification data and official registration of the educational institution.

      2. Economic solvency to cover the amount of tuition, accommodation and living expenses during their stay in Mexico, accredited by:

      1. Original and copy of proof of investments or bank accounts during the last 3 months, or.
      2. Original and copy of the documents that show that you have a job, pension or scholarship during the last 3 months.

      Solvency may be accredited by the applicant, his parents, his spouse, his common-law wife or common-law partner or equivalent figure; or by whoever exercises parental authority or guardianship; or with a letter from the educational institution that proves that they have been the beneficiary of a scholarship or document from a banking or financial institution that proves that they have the financing.

      1. Original of the letter of the agency or autonomous constitutional institution that is inviting the applicant to participate in an event derived from international commitments contracted by the Mexican State for the celebration of events. The letter must contain the following information:

      1. Applicant's full name;
      2. Nationality;
      3. Name of the Federal Public Administration unit or autonomous constitutional body;
      4. Information on the event in which the applicant will participate;
      5. Date and duration of the event; and
      6. Signature and title of the Federal Public Administration official or autonomous constitutional institution responsible for coordinating the event.

      2. Original letter or note from the institution of the country that is sending the applicant, and

      3. Payment of fees for the issuance of a visa in accordance with the Federal Law on Rights, except in cases where there is an Agreement or Unilateral Declaration of Gratuity with the country of which the applicant is a national.

Important aspects to consider

  1. The interested person is the only one who will be given information about the status of the process.
  2. In the case of girls, boys, adolescents or persons who are subject to legal protection under the terms of civil law, the visa application form must be signed by both parents or by the person exercising parental authority or guardianship in the presence of the consular official or employee.
  3. If the parent does not physically present themselves to the consular office to obtain the visa for his minor child, he must present the notarized authorization of the other parent stating his consent to obtain a Mexican visa.
  4. In the case of girls, boys or adolescents whose parental authority only corresponds to one of the parents by judicial judgment, a certified copy of the official document so determined shall be provided. In the case of a document granted in a third country, it must be legalized or apostilled as the case may be, with translation in the case of a language other than Spanish.
  5. Current visa holders from Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and any of the countries of the Schengen area (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Slovakia, Estonia, Finland, France, Slovenia, Spain, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland), as well as the member countries of the Pacific Alliance (Chile, Colombia and Peru), do not require a Mexican visa to enter Mexico.
