They are also receiving psychological attention from the Chiapas state government and the National Human Rights Commission. The state's social services system (DIF) is assisting the migrant children and adolescents, and its civil protection system is providing the necessary support and infrastructure. The Education Ministry has set up two classrooms and a playroom; and medical services are being provided by the state's health department, the Federal Police, the Mexican Red Cross, and the International Red Cross.
The Mexican Commission for Refugee Assistance (COMAR), in coordination with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, continues to help and register those applying for refugee status.
Federal government officials will work closely with the Chiapas state government to continue to provide the migrants at the Tapachula fairgrounds shelter with humanitarian assistance.
