Ambassador Esteban Moctezuma’s travel to Houston

Ambassador Esteban Moctezuma will travel to Houston, Texas August 25-27 to meet with members of the Mexican, academic, and business communities, civil organizations, and local authorities.

During his visit, Ambassador Moctezuma will meet with the mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, to discuss how to increase bilateral trade and tourism, and the importance of working together to empower and protect the rights of Mexican and Mexican American citizens.

The Ambassador will also speak with scholars and students about academic exchanges and binational cooperation initiatives on innovation and education, such as 'Cátedra México', a joint initiative with Rice University to strengthen ties with Mexican educational institutions.

He will visit the ARCA-Continental plant and talk with its directors about the contributions and impact of Mexican investments in Houston and Texas. In a meeting with business leaders, the Ambassador will exchange views on how to continue strengthening the Houston-Mexico bilateral trade flows by seizing the benefits offered by the US-Mexico-Canada Treaty (USMCA).

Finally, in the context of a Saturday session of consular services, Ambassador Moctezuma will visit the Consulate General of Mexico in Houston to hold meetings with community leaders to learn about their stories, perspectives and concerns. Consul General Alicia Kerber Palma will accompany him.

The visit of Ambassador Moctezuma is part of his commitment to learning directly from the Mexican communities in the US about their perspectives, raising the visibility of their contributions to US society, and ensuring the protection of their rights.

Moreover, the Ambassador will promote the increase of trade between North American countries under the framework of bilateral mechanisms such as the USMCA, and the High-Level Economic Dialogue, with the ultimate goal of moving toward a more prosperous, competitive and humanistic North American region.
