15.7 million international tourists arrived to Mexico between January and August 2020, a -47.2% decrease when compared to the same 2019 period as a result of the covid-19 pandemic.

International tourist arrivals by air |
From January to August 2020, U.S. nationals represented 60.5% of all passengers arriving to Mexico by air travel followed by Canadians (17%), Europeans (8.8%), mainly from the United Kingdom (1.6%), South Americans (8.3%), mainly from Colombia (1.9%) and Brazil (1.6%).

Main airports of arrival |
From January to August, airports with the highest international tourist arrivals by nationality were: Cancún (2,185,200), Mexico City (1,167,121), Los Cabos (542,224), Puerto Vallarta (529,201), Guadalajara (365,384), Cozumel (71,219), Monterrey (67,070) and Mazatlán (57,870).

Hotel Occupancy |
During January-august 2020 Hotel Occupancy percentage in a grouping of 70 tourist centers, was 25.7%, 35.9% lower in comparison to that observed during the same period of 2019 as a result of covid-19.
