International visitors to Mexico

 

In January 2021, 3.8 million international visitors arrived in Mexico, a 54.9% decrease compared to January 2020 as a result of the on-going pandemic.

In January 2021, 1.9 million international tourists arrived in Mexico, a 49.3% decrease compared to January 2021 as a result of the on-going pandemic.

International tourist arrivals by air


In January 2021, U.S. nationals represented 70% of all passengers arriving to Mexico by air travel followed by Canadians (3.6%), Europeans (8%), mainly from France (1.5%), South Americans (13.4%), mainly from Colombia (3.3%) and Brazil (2.6%).

Main airports of arrival

 

In January 2021, the three airports with the highest international arrivals, according to their nationality, were: Cancun (305,516), Mexico City (124,134) and Los Cabos (72,204).

Hotel Occupancy

 

In January 2021, the average hotel occupancy was 25.4%, a drop of 31.8% compared to the same month in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
