International visitors to Mexico

 

During the trimester of 2021, 11.4 million international visitors arrived in Mexico, a 50.7% decrease compared to the same period in 2020 as a result of the on-going pandemic.

During the first trimester of 2021, 5.8 million international turists arrived in Mexico, a 43.9% decrease compared to the same period in 2020 as a result of the on-going pandemic.

International tourist arrivals by air


In the first trimester of 2021, U.S. nationals represented 75% of all passengers arriving to Mexico by air travel. Of all arrivals, Canadians represented 1.6%, Europeans 7.1%, and South Americans 11.6% (mainly from Colombia 2.8% and Brazil 2.2%).

Main airports of arrival

 

In the first trimester of 2021, the three airports with the highest international arrivals, according to their nationality, were: Cancun (1,025,268), Mexico City (345,324) and Los Cabos (261,453).

Hotel Occupancy

 

In the month of March, the average hotel occupancy was 33.7%, a drop of 7.5% compared to the same period in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
