General Information
- If you are a Permanent Resident or hold a valid multiple-entry visa from any of the following countries—Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, or any Schengen Area country—you do not need a visa to visit Mexico for tourism, business, or transit purposes.
- This exemption also applies if you are a Permanent Resident of a Pacific Alliance member country.
- Foreign nationals of any nationality traveling to Mexico via maritime ports as passengers on tourism cruises do not require a visa.
Types of Visas
- Non-Lucrative Visitor Visa: For foreign nationals requiring a visa to enter Mexico for tourism, business visits, medical treatment, transit, or other non-remunerative activities.
- Temporary Resident Visa: For individuals seeking temporary residency in Mexico.
- Temporary Resident Visa Authorized by the National Migration Institute (INM): For applicants who have received prior authorization from the INM.

- Being granted a Mexican visa allows you to travel to Mexico but does not guarantee entry into the country.
- Upon arrival, Mexican immigration authorities may ask questions to verify: the purpose of your visit, the duration of your stay, and, how your trip is being funded,
- Mexican immigration officials will also: verify the authenticity of your documents, confirm the accuracy of the information provided, and, ensure there are no restrictions on your entry.
- The purpose of your trip must align with the type of visa you hold.
