
Requirements
- Application form duly filled - (Download).
- One passport-size color photograph, taken in a studio or photo booth, with face uncovered on a white background, printed on photo paper.
- For applicants who are not citizens of Sweden, Lithuania, or Latvia but reside in one of these countries, please submit a copy of your valid Swedish, Lithuanian, or Latvian residence permit. If you are a citizen of another EU member state, please provide a proof of registration issued by the local authorities. If you do not meet these criteria, please contact the Mexican Embassy nearest to your place of habitual residence.
- You can choose one (1) of these options to prove your economy solvency in Sweden, Lithuania or Latvia:
- ORIGINAL bank account statements from the past three (3) months. If the bank statements are from a financial institution outisde Sweden, Lithuania, Latvia or Mexico, they must be apostilled.
- ORIGINAL letter from the bank certifying your account and its balance, which must match the account statement.
- ORIGINAL employment letter (in English -contracts are not permitted-) stating your personal details, position, salary (after taxes), employment start date, and the contact information of the signatory. The ORIGINAL must be presented at your appointment. Copies will not be accepted. If the letter has a digital signature, it must also include an original company stamp. Please note that you should have a minimum of one year of stability in your current employment.
- Pay slips for the last three (3) months.
- Certificate of studies stating personal details and current course (stamped and signed). COPIES are NOT VALID. If the certificate has a digital signature, it should contain at least an original stamp from the University.
- Documents to prove the financial solvency of the applicant: letter of employment + pay slips for the last three (3) months or a document stating that the applicant has a scholarship.
Important Visa Notes
♣ Sponsorship: Only for first-degree relatives (parents, children, spouses); therefore, please attach the corresponding documents (marriage certificate or birth certificate), apostilled and translated into English if the registration was performed outside Sweden.
♣ Au Pair (Sweden / Lithuania / Latvia): Must show financial self-sufficiency (Option 1 or Option 2). Sponsorship not allowed, unless family ties exist.
♣ Residence Permit: Must be valid for at least 4 months.
♣ Visa Validity: Visa is valid for 6 months from the date of issuance, so it is recommended to apply 1–2 months before your trip.
♣ Minors: ORIGINAL of the extract of information from Skatteverket (Tax office) stamped and signed issued no more than two (2) months ago or if the birth certificate was not issued in Sweden, the certificate must be apostilled and translated into English or Spanish.
To avoid delays, we recommend applying at least 1 month before your planned trip.
To schedule an appointment, you must first create a user account, confirm it via your email address, and log in to upload the documents required for your visa application.
- Access the following link (please note that the website may occasionally require a VPN, though not always) and select your preferred language - https://citas.sre.gob.mx/
- Log in to your account and click on “SCHEDULE.”
- Select the Stockholm office.
- Complete your information manually. (Foreign nationals traveling to Mexico do not have a CURP.)
- Fill in all required fields. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory; you will not be able to proceed without completing them.
- When you reach “Procedure type,” select “SIN PERMISO DEL INM.” This indicates that you do not require a work permit if your stay is less than 180 days (6 months), you will not receive income from a Mexican source, and/or you have prior authorization from the immigration authorities.
- When you reach “Sub-procedure,” select “VISITANTE SIN PERMISO PARA REALIZAR ACTIVIDADES REMUNERADAS” (Visitor without permission to engage in remunerated activities), applicable for tourism, business, studies, and transit.
- Continue completing your information.
- Upload the required documentation: your passport, along with your Swedish, Lithuanian, or Latvian residence permit, and proof of financial means in accordance with the requirements outlined above on this page. Please also upload your application form in any available field within the system.
- Finally, select your preferred appointment date.
IMPORTANT
Your visa appointment will not be confirmed until the documents uploaded to the platform have been reviewed and validated. This validation process may take up to 5 business days. Therefore, you should not select an appointment date earlier than 5 days from the date of submission.
You will receive a notification via email once your documents have been validated or if additional information is required.
