Requirements
- Application form duly filled - (Download).
- One passport-size photograph with face and head uncovered, in color with a white background (printed in photo-paper).
- For applicants who are not citizens of Sweden, Lithuania, or Latvia but reside in one of these countries, please submit a copy of your valid Swedish, Lithuanian, or Latvian residence permit. If you are a citizen of another EU member state, please provide a proof of registration issued by the local authorities. If you do not meet these criteria, please contact the Mexican Embassy nearest to your place of habitual residence.
- You can choose one (1) of these options to prove the economy solvency for a temporary residence (up to 4 years):
- ORIGINAL bank account statements from the past twelve (12) months. If the bank statements are from a financial institution outisde Sweden, Lithuania, Latvia or Mexico, they must be apostilled.
- ORIGINAL letter from the bank certifying your account and its balance, which must match the account statement.
- ORIGINAL employment letter (in English) stating your personal details, position, salary (after taxes), employment start date, and the contact information of the signatory, confirming that you are allowed to work remotely. The ORIGINAL must be presented at your appointment. Copies will not be accepted. If the letter has a digital signature, it must also include an original company stamp.”
- Pay slips for the last six (6) months.

- Invitation letter (in English) stating (the ORIGINAL must be presented once an appointment is granted):
- Your personal details.
- Position to be taken in Mexico listing the activities to be performed.
- Salary (after taxes).
- Duration of the employment.
- Details of the company such as number registration, address and business activity of the company.
- Contact details and copy of the identification of the signatory.
- The company should clearly state in the letter that it takes full responsibility for the applicant including the return to Sweden.
- To demonstrate the financial solvency, the inviting company must provide the last twelve (12) months of account statements in their original form, stamped and signed by the Mexican bank or with a QR code for verification. If the company prefers, for confidentiality reasons, to send the statements directly to the embassy, that is also acceptable.
- Original document proving that the foreign applicant has the experience, skills, abilities, or knowledge required to carry out the activity for which they are invited. For example: certificates, diplomas, letter of recommendation, etc.
- If the company is not covering the expenses, please refer to the ACCOUNT STATEMENTS or EMPLOYMENT option.
- Certified public deed issued before a Mexican Notary Public, certifying that the foreign individual owns real estate in Mexico with a minimum value of 10,376,000 Mexican Pesos (approximately 5,000,000 SEK or 475,000 EUR). Ensure it is a certified copy issued by a Mexican Notary, as the Consulate will retain it for their records.
- ORIGINAL document(s) proving a pension of at least 39,000 SEK (after taxes), along with proof of payments for the last six (6) months. If the document is issued by an institution outside Sweden, Lithuania, Latvia, or Mexico, it must be apostilled.
NOTE: As some original documents are required depending on the option you choose, please ensure you have them ready before your consular interview. For OPTION 3, companies must provide you with the original letter. Copies will not be accepted.
Please note that the visa is valid for only six months. During this period, it must be exchanged in Mexico for a temporary residence card. We recommend applying 1 to 2 months before your planned move to Mexico.
