CONSULAR SERVICES
Power of Attorney

The Ambassador of Mexico and/or the Consul General can issue Powers of Attorney, either for individuals or for companies seeking to delegate legal representation in Mexico.

Powers of Attorney are either General (for lawsuits, collections and acts of administration), as well as Specific (for specific representation purposes).

Requirements:

  1. Application (Download),

  2. Letter explaining the will to issue the Power of Attorney,

  3. Original and photocopies of the persons granting the Power of Attorney,

  4. In the case of companies:

    • Board of Director's resolution by which a particular person is conferred authority to grant Power of Attorney on behalf of the company,

    • Copy of the company's official registry, as well as of its certificate of incorporation,

    • Copy of the bylaws sections currently in force, regarding the name and purpose of the corporation, the powers vested upon the Board of Directors and Officers, as well as the authorized persons to execute contracts and carry out acts, in the name and on behalf of the corporation and to use its corporate seal,

    • Copy of the minutes of the Shareholders' Meeting which resolved on the election of the Members of the Board of Directors and Officers. (with their complete names and titles),

  5. Payment of fees, in cash to the Embassy of Mexico (check list).


IMPORTANT

In case that the person granting the power of attorney is not familiar with the Spanish language, he or she must be accompanied by his/her own interpreter, who must also identify her/himself by presenting original and a copy of passport.

 

All documents must be accompanied by their translation into Spanish, bear the Corporate Seal, full name and signature of the corporation's secretary.

All translations must be duly certified by a Notary Public.

DUTY-FREE IMPORT

 

Duty-free import of household goods is applicable to foreigners with the status of Permanent Resident in Mexico.

Requirements:

1.    Complete the application form (Download).

2.    Original of the Permanent Resident Card issued by the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) or valid Permanent Residence Visa.

3.    List of household goods signed by the applicant in quadruplicate. The list must contain a detailed description and the quantity of the goods. For electronic items, please specify brand, model and serial number. Each paper and copy shall be signed in handwritten form by the applicant.

4.    Payment (Consular Fees).

 

TEMPORARY IMPORT

 

Temporary import is applicable to foreigners with the status of Temporary Resident in Mexico and holders of a Student Temporary Resident card.

Temporary import applies to household goods for the duration term of the temporary residence, including extensions, provided that the household goods be returned abroad after the term expires.

Requirements.

1.    Complete the application form (Download).

2.    Original of the Temporary Resident Card issued by the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) or valid Temporary Residence Visa / Student Temporary Residence Visa.

3.    List of household goods signed by the applicant in quadruplicate. The list must contain a detailed description and the quantity of the goods. For electronic items, please specify brand, model and serial number. Each paper and copy shall be signed in handwritten form by the applicant.

4.    Written statement that the applicant obliges to return the imported household goods and in case of change of address give notice to the customs authority.

5.    Payment (Consular Fees).

Government and Non-Government documents issued in Singapore must be legalised first by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore before submitting to the Consular Section of the Embassy.
