The 24th Raindance Film Festival will take place from 21 September to October 2016 in Central London at Piccadilly Circus. The Raindance Film Festival is the largest and most important independent film festival in the UK. Raindance showcases features, shorts and music videos by filmmakers from the UK and around the world to an audience of film executives, journalists, fans and filmmakers. Along with screenings, there are seminars, workshops and events to allow everyone the chance to share their passion for cinema. This year will see two Mexican features, one short narrative and for the second consecutive year, Oscar and BAFTA nominated Mexican screenwriter, Guillermo Arriaga will be conducting a Master Class for budding screenwriters and filmmakers.

Greenby Alonso RuizpalaciosRuizapalacios is a renowned young Mexican film director that studied stage directing in Mexico City, before moving to London where he trained as an actor at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts). Ruizpalacios writes and directs for both stage and screen. His short film “Café Paraíso” won multiple awards on the film festival circuit. His debut feature “Güeros” shot in black and white was lauded by critics and won five Ariel Awards in 2015, including Best Picture, Best First Film and Best Director. Outline: Ariel, a quiet security guard in charge of transporting other people´s millions, has discovered he is about to be a father. While deciding what to do about his paternity, through a bizarre fault in the system, he suddenly finds himself faced with the possibility of fleeing with the money.

Me and the Alienby Jesús Magaña VázquezMagaña Vázquez is a well-known Mexican director, writer and producer. His previous film 'Alice in Marialand' was screened at Raindance 2015, winning Best International Feature. His other directorial credits include dramas 'Abolition of Property' and 'Once Upon a Time Maria'. Outline: Lauro, Rita, and Agus have a punk band that isn´t very successful, so in order to renew their sound, they accept a talented keyboard player who has Down´s syndrome, known as “The Alien”. Thanks to The Alien´s touch, Mr. Gramophone, their manager, takes them to the top of the music scene with a new genre.

Panamerican Machineryby Joaquín del PasoJoaquín del Paso is a Mexican director and cinematographer, based in Mexico City. He studied Film Directing and Scriptwriting at the International Film School in Cuba before studying at the Polish National Film School. He is the founder of Amondo Films. His credits include shorts ‘Dream of San Juan’ and ‘Black Mountain’. Outline: It’s Friday morning at PanAmerican Machinery, a company specialised in selling and repairing machines for construction and destruction. The employees are already winding down for the weekend, engaging in little rituals and routines when an unexpected turn of events shakes their monotony. Don Alejandro, the boss, lies dead at the back of the warehouse. The discovery changes everything.

Guillermo Arriaga MasterclassGuillermo Arriaga is one of today's most original storytelling and screenwriting voices. Arriaga's filmography includes three collaborations as a screenwriter with three-time Oscar-winner Alejandro González Iñárritu (“Amores Perros,” “21 Grams” and “Babel”), as well as “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada” with Tommy Lee Jones, which won the Best Screenplay award at Cannes; “The Night Buffalo” with Jorge Hernández Aldana; and “The Burning Plain”. Guillermo's most recent film, Words with Gods (2015), has been celebrated and screened at film festivals around the world.
