The Embassy of Mexico in the United Kingdom launched the "Policy for Comprehensive Care for Women" (VAIM), to strengthen the consular services provided to Mexican girls and women

London, United Kingdom, May 19, 2023. - In the presence of the General Director of Consular Protection and Strategic Planning of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vanessa Calva Ruiz, the Ambassador of Mexico to the United Kingdom, Josefa González-Blanco Ortíz-Mena, launched the "Policy for Comprehensive Care for Women" (VAIM) in the consular section of the Embassy of Mexico.

 The VAIM offers specialized and differentiated consular attention to Mexican girls and women. It is a strategy that incorporates a transversal and intersectional gender perspective in all consular actions and services, facilitating a range of resources and services for Mexican women to meet their specific needs and profiles.

 The Embassy of Mexico in the United Kingdom is one of the first Mexican representations in Europe to implement the VAIM. The measure reflects its commitment to build, utilize and strengthen a diversified network of allies to provide the necessary support to Mexican women in the country, including those in vulnerable situations and victims of gender violence.

 Over the years, the embassy has developed a network of allies in different fields. As part of the implementation of the VAIM, Ambassador González-Blanco and Director General Calva Ruiz met with key stakeholders, including Mexican women, consultant attorneys, the London Metropolitan Police, FCDO, the central authorities in England and Wales for International Child Abduction and Child Maintenance, and mental health specialists. All joining efforts to provide comprehensive care to Mexican women.
