FIRST CERTIFIED COPIES OF BIRTH CERTIFICATES ISSUED TO MEXICANS IN THE UK

LONDON, United Kingdom, 26th January 2015.- The Consular Section of the Embassy of Mexico in the UK delivered the first certified copies of birth certificates to Mexicans in the United Kingdom.

The delivery of birth certificates in the capital of the United Kingdom provides valuable support for the Mexican community established in this country that previously had to apply at national territory, as well as many Mexican students that required to complete the registration process for various academic programmes in British universities.

The Ambassador of Mexico to the UK, Diego Gomez-Pickering and the Head of the Consular Section, Anibal Gomez-Toledo, delivered the first certified copies to Mexican nationals residing in London, highlighting the importance of this new service for the Mexican population living abroad announced on 5th January by President Enrique Peña Nieto.

This measure responds to a historical demand of our citizens abroad by facilitating their acquisition at consular representations of Mexico overseas of their birth certificates generated in Mexico.

For authorised copies of birth certificate the applicant must appear in person at the Consular Section of the Embassy of Mexico and:

  • Submit a photo ID
  • Fill the respective application and provide full name, date of birth, place of registration or Unique Population Registry Code (CURP)
  • Pay the cost for US $ 13.00 (£ 8.38 at current exchange rate) for each certified copy.

It is noteworthy to mention that the certified copies that are issued at consular representations of Mexico are also valid, as if they had been obtained in the Civil Register offices in any state of the Republic.
