London, United Kingdom, 25 September 2017. The Embassy of Mexico reiterates its gratitude and appreciation for the many expressions of condolence and solidarity from UK authorities and British society in the wake of the earthquake of 19 September. It also recognizes the Mexican community which, in various ways, has demonstrated its spirit of solidarity through initiatives to support those affected.
In dealing with the tragedy, and in addition to search and rescue operations underway, a three-stage action plan is been implemented. Firstly, supporting the affected population including the provision of food and shelter, as well as restoring basic public services. Secondly, carrying out an assessment of material damage, leading to a third phase centred on restoration and reconstruction.
