MEXICO AND THE UK STRENGTHEN ITS BILATERAL RELATION


  • The strategic relation between Mexico and the UK is going through one of its best moments, characterised by the excellent level of political dialogue and exchanges in areas such as economy, education and culture.

MEXICO CITY, 1st February 2017.- The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Luis Videgaray, held a telephone conversation with his counterpart in the UK, Boris Johnson, Secretary of State for Foreign & Commonwealth Affairs. Both Secretaries concurred that the strategic relation between Mexico and the United Kingdom is going through one of its best moments, characterised by the excellent level of political dialogue and exchanges in areas such as economy, education and culture.

Likewise, they reassured their commitment to continue strengthening and expanding the bilateral relation. Particularly, they expressed their intention to negotiate a free trade agreement between Mexico and the UK, as soon as the process to exit the EU allows it.

Secretary Videgaray extended an invitation to Secretary Johnson to visit Mexico in order to evaluate the status of cooperation and lay the foundation for future projects.
