TOURIST VISA

 

The visa is the document granted to foreigners who, due to their nationality, require it to travel and enter Mexico.

 

Portugal nationals do you do not need a visa to enter Mexico for tourism, business or transit purposes. All individuals in this category are required to present their passports, valid during your entire stay in Mexico. 

 

If you are a Permanent Resident of the following countries: Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and any of the countries of the Schengen Area, you do not need a visa to enter Mexico for tourism, business or transit purposes. All individuals in this category are required to present their valid and unexpired Permanent Resident Card along with their passports. Both documents must be valid during your entire stay in Mexico. 

 

If you have a valid and unexpired visa of the following countries: Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and any of the countries of the Schengen Area, you do not need a visa to enter Mexico for tourism, business or transit purposes. All individuals in this category are required to present their valid and unexpired visa along with their passports. Both documents must be valid during your entire stay in Mexico.

Description of this procedure

 

The visa allows a stay of up to 180 days to carry out NON-paid activities such as:

 

  • Transit
  • Business (such as attendance at meetings, supervisory visits, training, or consulting in Mexico)
  • Technical jobs in companies (without receiving payment in Mexico)
  • Receive medical treatments
  • Attend fairs and/or conferences
  • Short-term studies.

Requisites:

  1. Valid Passport with minimum validity of (6) months.

 

  1. Proof of residence in Portugal. Original and photocopy of the Portuguese residence card (for non-Portuguese nationals)

 

  1. A recent passport-sized color photograph, with the face visible and without glasses, taken from the front on a white background.

 

  1. Proof of economic solvency.

 

  1. a) Original work contract showing salary and length of time working at the company or institution.

 

  1. b) All applicants must present last three payment slips in original, and the bank statements to which their salary is deposited of the last 3 months or the saving account statements of the last three months. Bank statements should be stamped by the bank.

 

Bank account statements should be in the name of the visa applicant (with the original stamp of the banking institution). They must be monthly account statements, no/no global/quarterly reports.

 

If the account statements are issued by a foreign bank (outside Portugal), they must be translated into Spanish or English and converted into euros. The originals must be duly apostilled or legalized by a Public Notary of the country of origin.

 

If you are an economic dependent being sponsored by a close family member, you must present his or her above-mentioned documents as well as a proof of family link (birth certificate or marriage certificate). You will also need photocopies of your sponsor's current passport.

 

  1. Payment of fees in cash on the day of the appointment. (See Applicable fees in the section: tarifas de trámites consulares)

Process:

  1. Your demand will receive an answer in a maximum of 72 hours, and the first available appointment will be assigned.

 

No procedures are carried out remotely. We do not have Urgent service for visas

 

Attention:

 

On the day of the appointment, original documents must be presented.

 

In accordance with current regulations regarding the issuance of visas, the time established is up to 10 business days as the maximum resolution period, as long as the documentation has been submitted in full and the interview is satisfactory.

 

The presentation of a visa application does not imply in any case the obligation on the part of the Embassy of Mexico to issue the visa.

 

It is recommended not to purchase air tickets until you complete the consular process.

 

Important Note:

 

Immigration officers have the authority to refuse entry to Mexico. At the point of entry, Mexican immigration authorities may ask you some questions to confirm the reasons for your trip, the duration of your stay in Mexico and how you are financing your visit. Furthermore, the officers may require proof of accommodation, itinerary and return tickets to Portugal or to another country.

  2. Your request will receive a reply within a maximum of 72 hours, and the first available appointment will be assigned.
