TOURIST VISA

 

 

Norwegian citizens DO NOT need a Tourist Visa to enter Mexico for tourism, business or any unpaid activity in Mexico as long as the visit does not exceed 180 days. 

 

If you are not traveling with Norwegian passport you can check if you are required to get a visa to Mexico before traveling.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Please note that regardless of his nationality, any foreigner holding any of the following documents will not require a Mexican visa:

 

ü  Document proving permanent residence in Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, any Schengen Country, and the countries of the Pacific Alliance (Chile, Colombia and Peru). The residence card should state explicitly "permanent residence".

 

ü  Valid Visa to Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or any of Schengen Country. (The Norwegian resident card does not count as valid visa).

 

ü  Card APEC Business Traveller (ABTC) adopted by Mexico.

 

 

TOURIST VISA REQUIREMENTS AND PROCESS

 

 

This visa allows you to visit Mexico for activities that do not involve receiving any kind of remuneration as tourism, transit through Mexico, businesses (such as attending meetings, supervisory visits, training or consultancies in Mexico), activities related to the exercise of ministers worship, technical jobs in companies (without pay in Mexico), philanthropic activities, sporting goods transport, medical treatments, attending fairs and / or conferences as well as studies involving no more than 180 days temporality.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

Send a copy of all your documents to consularesnor@sre.gob.mx or by post (Frøyas gate 9, 0244, Oslo, Norway).

 

Upon reception and verification of your documents, the Embassy will give you and appointment for an interview in person at the Embassy.

 

                                    I.         Application Form (available here)  

 

                                  II.         Valid passport

 

                                III.         1 Photo: recent, in color, 3.0 x 3.5 cm, front view, with white background, without glasses and/or piercing (it is not necessary to send a copy in the email just bring it to the interview).

 

                               IV.          Legal status: Documents proving your legal stay in Norway.

 

                                 V.          Financial Solvency: Official documents proving your financial solvency. Any of the following:

ü Monthly payment receipts (employment or pension) that show that you have had a monthly income equivalent to one hundred days of the current general minimum wage in Mexico City (24,893 Mexican pesos equivalent to approximately 15 000 NOK *) for the last three months AND letter of employer or contract proving at least one year of employment.

Or,

ü Bank statements of the last 3 months with a monthly average balance equivalent to three hundred days of the current general minimum wage in Mexico City (74,679 Mexican pesos equivalent to approximately 45,000 NOK *).

 *

                             VI.            Invitation letter: just for cases when you have been invited by an organization, public or private institution to participate in an event in Mexico.

 

                           VII.            Consular fee: Payment will be done the day of the interview at the Embassy. We only accept Norwegian debit cards

ü  Citizens of the following countries do not require a visa:

ü  Holding a visa does not guarantee entry to Mexico. Having a visa allows you to travel to a port of entry and request permission to enter Mexico. The Immigration Institute of Mexico is responsible for admission of travellers.
