What is this visa?

This is a visa for foreign nationals who wish to enter Mexico as temporary residents to stay for a period exceeding 180 days and up to a maximum of 4 years.

Validity and Permitted Entries:

• Validity: Up to 180 days.
• Entries: One (1) entry.

AFTER ENTERING MEXICO WITH THIS TYPE OF VISA, YOU MUST REPORT TO THE NEAREST OFFICE OF THE “NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MIGRATION” (INM) TO REQUEST A RESIDENT CREDENTIAL.

Requirements:

Please note that all documents are subject to verification. The process must be carried out in person; therefore, it is not possible to submit your documents via courier, mail, or a third party.

1. Processing fee:
Visa applications at the Embassy of Mexico incur a non-refundable fee in Naira equivalent to $54.00 USD, which must be deposited directly into the Embassy’s bank account.

2. Application form:
Submit the printed and duly completed and signed visa application form in person, as biometric data (photograph and fingerprints) are required.

3. Valid passport:
Original and a copy of your passport or travel and identity document valid under international law, with at least 6 months of validity before its expiration date.

4. Recent photograph:

• One color photograph, with a white background, no glasses, and the face fully visible. Passport size: between 32x26mm and 39x31mm.

5. Document proving legal stay:
If you wish to submit your application at this Embassy, you must provide proof of legal residence in Nigeria or any other country within our jurisdiction, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, Gabon, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Niger, and Togo.

6. Additional documents:
You must provide documents proving one of the following conditions:

A) Economic Solvency

1. Monthly Income:

• Original and copy of documents proving employment or pension with tax-free income equivalent to $4,078.01 USD for the last 6 months.
• Original and copy of proof of stable employment with a minimum tenure of 1 year.

2. Or Bank Accounts:

• Original and copy of investment proofs or monthly average balance equivalent to $67,966.85 USD for the last 12 months.

B) Invitation by a Mexican Organization or Institution

1. Invitation Letter:
The Mexican organization must submit a letter of responsibility including:

• Full name and nationality of the applicant.
• Official information and registration of the organization (if applicable).
• Purpose of the public or private organization or institution.
• Complete address and contact details of the organization or institution.
• Details of the activity to be carried out in Mexico, duration, and commitment to cover maintenance and return of the invitee.
• Copy of official ID with a signature and photograph of the person signing the letter.

2. Mexican Organization’s Financial Resources:

• Documents proving a monthly average balance equivalent to $135,933.69 USD for the last 12 months.
  (Public institutions and educational institutions belonging to the Mexican National Educational System are not required to prove financial solvency.)

3. Experience and Skills:

• Documents proving your ability or experience to carry out the activity for which you were invited.

PRINTED COPIES OF AN ORIGINAL LETTER SENT TO THE APPLICANT VIA EMAIL OR DIGITALLY SIGNED LETTERS ARE NOT VALID.

C) Family Unit

The relative proving the relationship must accompany the applicant at the time of submitting the application.

1. Family Bond with a Foreign Holder of a Temporary Resident Visa or Temporary Student Resident:
If the applicant has a bond with a foreign holder of a temporary resident visa or temporary student resident, they must present:

• Spouse or Partner:
  • Marriage certificate or document proving the partnership (original and copy).
• Children:
  • Birth certificate of the child (original and copy).
• Parents:
  • Applicant's birth certificate (original and copy), only if they are underage or under legal representation.
• Stepchildren:
  • Applicant’s birth certificate (original and copy).
  • Marriage certificate or equivalent document of the parents (original and copy).

Additionally:

• Valid temporary resident visa of the foreign holder (original and copy).
• Proof of economic solvency:
  • Monthly average balance equivalent to $1,359.34 USD for the last 12 months.
  • Documents proving tax-free income equivalent to $1,359.34 USD for the last 6 months.

2. Marriage or Partnership with a Foreign Permanent Resident Holder:
Required documentation:

• Marriage certificate or document proving the partnership (original and copy).
• Valid permanent resident visa of the foreign holder (original and copy).

3. Marriage or Family Bond with a Foreign Holder of Temporary Resident or Student Resident Status:

Additionally:

• Valid temporary resident card (original and copy).
• Letter from the educational institution confirming the foreign holder with student temporary resident status is currently enrolled.

D) Real Estate in Mexico

• Registered public deed proving ownership of real estate with a value exceeding $271,867.38 USD (original and copy).

Additional Information:

Minors

Minors under 18 must present:

1. Birth Certificate:

• Minors must present their birth certificate as part of the requirements.

2. Accompaniment:

• Minors must be accompanied by both parents or legal guardians at the visa appointment.
• If minors are not traveling with both parents or guardians, they must present a notarized authorization.
• The authorization must include copies of the official IDs of both parents or guardians.

3. Unaccompanied Minors:

• These requirements also apply to minors traveling alone.
