Requisitos para solicitud de visa mexicana
Gracias por su interés en viajar a México. Le comentamos que para poder obtener una visa de entrada a México, debe solicitar una cita en la Embajada a través de MEXITEL, el sistema de citas por internet creado por el Gobierno de México. El sitio se encuentra disponible en la siguiente liga electrónica:
https://mexitel.sre.gob.mx/citas.webportal/
Una vez ahí, deberá generar un nombre de usuario y contraseña para poder ingresar al sistema, mismo que le permitirá elegir la fecha y hora en la que desea acudir a la Sección Consular de la Embajada. Una vez que haya agendado su cita, el sistema generará una confirmación electrónica que usted debe presentar en la Embajada el día de su cita.
Es recomendable que el interesado solicite una cita con anticipación a fin de poder evitar cualquier inconveniente. Si usted desea re-agendar su cita, o si no llega a tiempo a la misma, tendrá que solicitar una nueva cita a través del mismo procedimiento. Una vez que su cita haya sido confirmada, deberá cumplir con los siguientes requisitos a fin de poder obtener una visa mexicana. Todos los documentos deben de presentarse en original y copia:
· Se informa atentamente a todos los solicitantes que de acuerdo con la reglamentación mexicana en la materia, a partir del 1 de enero del 2020 las solicitudes de visa Mexicana en la Embajada de México en Nigeria se efectuaran previo pago de una cuota equivalente a $40.00 dólares EUA, misma que deberá cubrirse en moneda local. Esta cuota no es reembolsable y deberá ser depositada directamente en la cuenta bancaria de la Embajada.
· Presentar personalmente la solicitud de visa (Anexa) con la información requerida, ya que se requieren sus datos biométricos (fotografía y huellas dactilares). No es posible enviar documentos con vía correo tradicional o con una tercera persona.
· Presentar pasaporte vigente.
· Presentar una fotografía a color tamaño pasaporte, de frente, sin anteojos y con fondo blanco.
· Acreditar evidencia de solvencia económica suficiente mediante alguno de los siguientes documentos
· Original y copia de los documentos que demuestren que cuenta con empleo o pensión con ingresos mensuales libres de gravámenes mayores a $670.00 USD, durante los últimos tres meses y constancia de empleo estable con antigüedad mínima de un año, o
· Original y copia de comprobante de inversiones o cuentas bancarias a nombre del solicitante con saldo promedio mensual equivalente a $2,000.00, durante los últimos tres meses, o
· Original y copia de escritura pública de bienes inmuebles debidamente registrados a nombre del solicitante con una antigüedad mínima de dos años y constancia de empleo estable con antigüedad mínima de dos años,
· Llevar a cabo una entrevista consular.
Usualmente, si los requisitos antes mencionados son completados y no surge ningún impedimento de fuerza mayor, particularmente la disponibilidad del servicio de internet, la visa se emite el mismo día en que se solicita.
Excepciones. Las personas que cuenten con visa válida y vigente para Estados Unidos de América (EUA), de cualquier tipo, pueden ingresar a México sin necesidad de obtener una visa mexicana, al igual que los residentes legales permanentes en EUA, Canadá, Japón, Reino Unido y Estados del Espacio Schengen. Sin embargo, se recomienda obtener la visa mexicana en caso de que se tenga previsto viajar con frecuencia a México.
Menores de edad. Los menores de edad se deberán presentar con ambos padres, tutores o custodios, o presentar una autorización notariada para viajar a México expedida por éstos (aplica también para los menores que viajen solos). Cuando se trate de padres solteros, viudos o divorciados, se deberá presentar la documentación correspondiente.
Cartas de invitación. La persona que sea invitada a México por una institución pública o privada deberá presentar, junto con su solicitud de visa, pasaporte y fotografía, el original de una carta responsiva de la organización que invite a la persona extranjera a participar en algún evento o actividad no remunerada en territorio nacional. La carta deberá contener los siguientes datos:
i. Nombre completo del solicitante y nacionalidad;
ii. Denominación o razón social de la organización;
iii. Número de registro oficial, según corresponda;
iv. Objeto de la organización o institución privada o pública;
v. Domicilio completo y datos de contacto de la organización o institución;
vi. Información sobre la actividad que realizará o el proyecto en el que participará la persona extranjera. La actividad de la persona extranjera deberá estar relacionada con los fines de la organización o institución que invita;
vii. Duración estimada o fecha aproximada de terminación de la actividad que realizará;
viii. El compromiso de hacerse cargo de la manutención de la persona extranjera durante su estancia en México y de su retorno a su país de origen o de residencia. A efecto de acreditar que cuenta con recursos para cumplir esta obligación, la organización o institución privada que invita presentará original y copia de comprobante de inversiones o cuentas bancarias con saldo promedio mensual equivalente $6,650.00 USD durante los últimos doce meses. Las instituciones públicas y las instituciones privadas pertenecientes al Sistema Educativo Nacional, no requieren acreditar solvencia económica.
ix. Copia de identificación oficial con firma y fotografía de quien suscriba la carta responsiva.
x. Los documentos con los que la persona extranjera acredite que cuenta con la experiencia, capacidad, habilidades o conocimientos necesarios para desarrollar la actividad para la cual es invitado, en original y copia.
Permisos de trabajo. Las solicitudes de visa para permisos de trabajo deberán ser realizadas en México por el empleador en cualquiera de las oficinas del Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) que se encuentran en el país. Una vez que el INM haya emitido la autorización correspondiente, la persona interesada deberá presentarse en la embajada con dicho documento a fin de llevar a cabo una entrevista consular.
Participación en actividades religiosas. Los solicitantes de visa que deseen viajar a México para participar en alguna actividad religiosa deberán presentar en su cita para trámite de visa el documento llamado anuencia que es emitido por la Secretaría de Gobernación en México. Mexican visa requirements
Thank you for your interest in visiting Mexico. In order to apply for a visa, kindly request an appointment through MEXITEL, the free online appointment scheduling system of the Government of Mexico. You can reach it through the following web address:

There, you will need to set up an account and choose the most suitable time for your appointment at the Consular Section of the Embassy (it’s recommended that you use the web browser Google Chrome when booking your appointment). Once you have booked your appointment, the system will generate a confirmation letter, which you must bring with you to the Embassy on the day of your appointment. Said letter will also be emailed to the email account you provided.
We strongly recommend that you request an appointment with plenty of time in advance in order to avoid any inconveniences. Please take note that, if you wish to reschedule for a more convenient date or time, or if you miss your appointment, you will need to request a new one following the same procedure. Kindly note that the number of appointments is limited, so in case the system does not issue a confirmation, it means that the Embassy is fully booked.
Once your appointment has been confirmed, you will need to fulfill the following requirements. Please note that all documents are subject to verification and have to be presented in both in original and copy:
1. Please be informed that according with new Government regulations, as of January 1st, 2020, visa applications at the Embassy of Mexico will have a non-refundable naira equivalent charge of $40.00 USD that must be deposited directly to the Embassy’s Account.
2. Present personally the visa application form dully completed and signed, since your biometric information (picture and fingerprints) is required. It is not possible to present your documents via courier or a third party.
3. Present a valid passport, with at least 6 months left before its expiry date. If you are not a Nigerian citizen, you will also need to provide either evidence of your legal entry into Nigeria, or of your legal residence in the country.
4. Bring with you one (1) passport sized color picture, with the following characteristics: front face, without glasses, and a white background.
5. Provide evidence of adequate economic solvency by presenting any of the following documents:
· Documents accounting for an employment or pension allowance with a monthly income equivalent to minimum $670.00 USD, free of taxes, during the last 3 months, as well as proof of stable employment during the last year, or
· Investment documents or bank accounts in the name of the applicant with a minimum monthly average balance equivalent to $2,000.00 USD during the last 3 months, or
· Real estate property deed registered in the name of the applicant with at least 2 years (minimum) ownership and proof of stable employment for the last 2 years.
6. Take part in a consular interview.
Usually, if the abovementioned requirements are fulfilled and no force majeure impediment arises, in particular the availability of the internet service, the visa is issued the same day it’s requested.
Exemptions. Applicants with a valid and open visa for the United States of America, of any type, can enter Mexico without the need of a Mexican visa, as well as those holding a visa issued by Canada, Japan, United Kingdom and the Schengen States. However, it is advised that you obtain a Mexican visa if you plan to travel frequently to Mexico.
Minors. Children under 18 years of age have to present their birth certificate and have to be accompanied by either both parents or their legal guardians, or present a notarized authorization from them to travel to Mexico, including copy of the identifications of the parents (applies also for minors travelling alone). When travelling with single parents, widows or divorcees, the corresponding documents should be presented.
Invitation letters. Applicants who are being invited by a public or private institution in order to participate in an event in Mexico will have to present, along with their visa application form, passport and passport-sized picture, an original letter in the institution’s letterhead with the following characteristics:
I. Applicant's full name and nationality.
II. Name of the organization.
III. Official registration number, if applicable.
IV. Objective/purpose of the institution.
V. Full address and contact details of the organization or institution.
VI. Information about the activity or project in which the applicant will be involved. Said activity must be related to the objectives of the organization or institution.
VII. Estimated duration or approximate date of completion of the activity.
VIII. The guarantee to take care of all the applicant’s expenses during his stay in Mexico and of his return to his country of origin or residence. In order to prove that they have the resources to comply with this, private institutions must present investment documents or bank accounts with a minimum monthly average balance equivalent to $6,650.00 USD during the last 12 months
IX. Copy of an official identification with photograph and signature of the person signing the letter.
X. The documents which prove that the applicant has the experience, capacity, skills or knowledge necessary to carry out the activity for which he has been invited, in original and copy.
Working permits. Visa applications for working permits have to be requested in Mexico by the prospective employer at any office of the National Migration Institute (Instituto Nacional de Migración – INM/INAMI) located along the country. Once the authorization has been issued, the prospective employee must come in person to the Embassy with a copy of such authorization in order to take part in a consular interview.
Religious activities. Visa applicants who wish to travel to Mexico to participate in any religious activity must present in their visa application the document called anuencia, which is issued by the Ministry of the Interior in Mexico (Secretaría de Gobernación). · Name of the course in which it has been accepted.
· Date of start of the course and duration of it.
· Cost of the program and
· Information about the institution and its registry within Mexico’s Ministry of Education.
6. Provide evidence of adequate economic solvency to cover the study program and living expenses during the duration of the stay:
o For studies under 6 months:
o Documents accounting for an employment, pension allowance or scholarship with a monthly income equivalent to minimum $670.00 USD, free of taxes, during the last 3 months, or,
o Investment documents or bank accounts with a monthly average balance equivalent to $1000.00 USD during the last 3 months, or,
o If the applicant is less than 25 years old, his parents or legal guardian can present the evidence of economic solvency.
o For studies of more than 6 months:
o Documents accounting for an employment, pension allowance or scholarship with a monthly income equivalent to minimum $670.00 USD, free of taxes, during the last 3 months, or,
o Investment documents or bank accounts with a monthly average balance equivalent to $6,650 USD during the last 3 months, or,
o If the applicant is less than 25 years old, his parents or legal guardian can present the evidence of economic solvency.
