IMPORTANT NOTICE

As of November 9, 2012, Jamaican nationals travelling to Mexico for reasons of tourism, in transit or on business (not including remunerated activities) no longer require a Mexican Visa or Consular Stamp to enter Mexico.

The aforementioned provision applies to Jamaicans travelling to Mexico as visitors, without authorization to engage in profitable activities, for up to 180 days.

Travellers within the abovementioned category are only required to present a valid Jamaican passport to travel to Mexico. As usual, at the time of admission Immigration Authorities may request  documents related to the purpose of travel.

Additionally, kindly be advised that individuals wishing to study for more than six months, establish temporary or permanent residence in Mexico, or engage in profitable activities should contact the Embassy to obtain requirements for visa.

Important notes:

1. If you are not a Jamaican national, please confirm here whether your nationality is required to obtain a visa to travel to Mexico.

2. Holders of a valid visa to the United States of America (of any nationality), are not required to obtain a visa to travel to Mexico for tourism, transit and business purposes.

3. Permanent Residents in USA, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom and Schengen States do not require a visa to enter Mexico for tourism, transit and business purposes.

4. Any other activity may be subject to the issuance of a Mexican visa.

5. Holders of Diplomatic or Official Jamaican passports do not require a visa to enter Mexico for stays not exceeding 90 days.

6. Visas are normally issued in one working day when formalities are duly completed.

Types of Visas:

Requirements:

All required documents must reflect complete name as shown in passport.

      1.      Original passport valid for at least six months and photocopy of the first and last page.

      2.      Application form duly filled.

      3.      One recent passport-sized photograph (4.5 CM X 3.5 CM), white background, without glasses.

      4.      Original and copy of your entry/residency approval from the Jamaican immigration authority.

      5.      Original cover letter given by your employer indicating date of employment, NET salary and activities. A copy of a photographic ID of the person signing the letter will also be required.

      6.      Original pay slips (last 3 months).

      7.      Original certified bank statement (with the AVERAGE BALANCE over the last 3 months).

      8.      Visa fee: USD$36 (US Dollars only and exact amount).

NOTE:

Personal presence of the applicant is mandatory for biometric process and interview.

If the applicant fulfils all requirements, visa processing can be done the same day.

Having a Mexican visa gives the possibility to travel to the country, but the entry to Mexican territory is subject to the final decision of the Immigration and Health Authorities in the country.

The Consular Section may request further forms of proof depending on each case.

Applies when the Mexican Organization will sponsor/cover the expenses of the applicant

Requirements:

All required documents must reflect complete name as shown in passport.

     1.      Original passport valid for at least six months and photocopy of the first and last page

      2.      Application form duly filled.

      3.      One recent passport-sized photograph (4.5 CM X 3.5 CM), white background, without glasses.

      4.      Original cover letter given by your company indicating the length of your trip.

      5.      Original pay slips (last 3 months)

      6.      Original certified bank statement (last 3 months)

     7.      Original letter of invitation from the Mexican organization (public or private). This letter must contain the following details:

I.                   Complete name of the person (same as in the passport) and nationality.

II.                Official Registry or Denomination of the organization. (Razón Social de la organización o institución).

III.             Number of the official registry, if it corresponds to the organization.

IV.             Mission/objective of the organization or institution (private or public).

V.                Complete address and contact information of the organization or institution.

VI.             Information of the activity or project that the guest is doing in the organization.

VII.          Estimated duration of the activity that the guest will undertake.

VIII.       The letter will have to explicitly mention the commitment of the organization or institution to cover all expenses of the person invited during his/her stay in Mexico and the commitment of his return to his/her country of residence.

IX.             Copy of an official identification with signature and photography of the person that will sign this letter.

      8.      Original and photocopy of bank statements or investment proofs of the Mexican organization or institution (last 12 months).

     9.      A document attesting that the applicant has the experience to carry out the activity for which he is invited (example: original degree or educational certificate).

     10.  Visa fee: USD$36 (US Dollars only and exact amount).

To apply for this type of visa, the person needs to have a previous authorization from the National Immigration Institute (INM). To apply for this authorization your employer must contact any office of the INM (www.inm.gob.mx) in Mexico.

Requirements that need to be shown in the Consular Section:

      1.      Original passport valid for at least six months and photocopy of the first and last page

      2.      Application form duly filled.

      3.      Copy of the authorization from the National Immigration Institute (INM).

      4.      One recent passport-sized photograph (4.5 CM X 3.5 CM), white background, without glasses.

      5.      Visa fee: USD$36 (US Dollars only and exact amount).

Foreigners wishing to enrol for more than six months in a Mexican school, college or university, either public or private, to commence, continue or finish studies, whether or not for credit; conduct research to obtain a graduate diploma; study Spanish, or pursue any other studies regardless of whether they intend to receive official recognition, must obtain a student visa.

The following documents must be presented by the applicant at the Consular Section:

1.      Application form duly completed.

2.      Original passport valid for at least six months and photocopy of the first and last page.

3.      One recent passport-sized photograph (4.5 CM X 3.5 CM), white background, without glasses.

4.      Original of the acceptance letter from the school or university in Mexico. The letter must contain the following information:

i.                    Full name of the applicant.

ii.                  Level, degree and area of ​​study that the applicant proposes to achieve,

iii.                Name of the course;

iv.                Date of commencement and completion of the course;

v.                  Cost of tuition for the course, and

vi.                Identification data of the educational institution.

vii.              In the case that the student received a scholarship for his/her studies, please indicate in the letter.

5.      When the student is under 25 years old, letter from the student's parents, sponsor, or legal guardian certifying that he/she will pay tuition fees and subsistence expenses during the term of  studies, and also round trip.

6.      Original certified bank statement of the student’s parent, sponsor or legal guardian (last 3 months).

7.      Parent / Guardian / Sponsor’s identification (passport)

8.      Visa fee: USD$36 (US Dollars only and exact amount).

General considerations:

·         Personal presence of the applicant is mandatory for biometric process and interview.

·         Applicants under 18 years old must be accompanied by either parents or legal guardians. Should either parents or guardians be unable to attend, a notarized permit will be required (original), in order to authorise the visa expedition. If one of the parents is entitled to child custody, the presentation of a judicial order will be required, as well as in the case of legal guardians.

·         Visa processing time is one working day ONLY if the applicants fulfil all requirements.

·       Holders of diplomatic, official or service passports and laissez passer needing to travel to Mexico on official missions or on private trips, please contact the Consular Section.

·         Clergy and ministers of religion, please contact the Consular Section for requisites.

·     According to the Immigration Law, the Mexican visa allows the bearer at the migratory visa verification point, to request entry into Mexican territory. The Mexican visa does not guarantee entrance into Mexico. Definitive admission into México is subjected to the authorization of immigration and sanitary authorities at the point of entry. They may verify at any given time, the requirements established in any applicable legal dispositions.

·         In cases where the applicant presents altered, modified, false, or illegally obtained documents, it will be registered in the migratory data bases and the visa will be rejected.

·    The Embassy of Mexico only accepts payments in US Dollars (cash), and in the exact amount. We apologize for any inconvenience this circumstance may cause.
