Immigration Review in Mexico
At the immigration review filter in Mexico, the following must be presented:
- Valid passport
- Multiple Migratory Form. "FMM" (to be filled out directly at the airport in Mexico).
- The immigration authority may request the foreigner to prove the reason for his/her trip, by means of any of the following documents:
- Hotel reservation, return tickets (itinerary), tour tickets (itinerary).
- Mandatory letter in Spanish language from the parent company, affiliate or foreign subsidiary indicating that the foreign person is an employee of the company and that the payment of the services to be rendered in the national territory will be paid by the company.
- Copy of the contract for the transfer of technology, patents and trademarks, purchase and sale of machinery and equipment, technical training of personnel, or any other contract related to the production process of a company established in Mexico or that links the foreign party with the Mexican party, or proof of appointment by the shareholders' meeting of companies legally established in Mexico.
- Letter from a public or private organization or institution inviting the foreign person to participate in some non-remunerated activity in Mexican territory, stating the purpose of the visit and the estimated length of stay. In case the organization or institution pays for the travel and stay expenses of the foreigner in the national territory, a letter of responsibility must be attached.
- Letter of invitation or acceptance from an institution belonging to the National Education System to carry out courses, studies or research or training projects for a maximum of 180 days.
At the point of entry, the immigration authorities may ask you some questions to confirm the reasons for your trip, the time you will spend in Mexico and how you will cover expenses during your stay. The following are some examples:
- Why are you traveling to Mexico? What activities will you be doing?
- Where will you be staying?
- Do you have any acquaintances in the country?
- How will you cover your expenses?
- If your visa is for work, who or what company will hire you? What activities will you perform within the company?
- If your visa is a student visa, what program will you be attending and at what institution?
- By what means of transportation will you leave the country?
- As in all countries, the immigration authorities will verify the authenticity of the documents you present and the veracity of the information you declare and will confirm that there is no express prohibition.
The reasons for your trip must match your visa type.
The Mexican visa gives you the possibility to travel to the country. It does not guarantee entry into the country.
All persons visiting or living in Mexico have rights that must be respected. Foreigners have the right to contact their embassy or consulate.
